Buzz In: Were/Are You in a Band?

A while ago I didn't think anything got cuter or more awesomely empowering than the Rock 'n' Roll Camp For Girls in Portland, OR, which I learned about by watching the documentary Girls Rock. But today I discovered the band Care Bears on Fire (that name? I know!), which consists of three 13- and 14-year-old girls who totally rock out. Check out the video for their song "Everybody Else" after the jump. It warmed my heart and made me a little envious of them. I wish I'd been in such a cool band when I was that age!

Were you ever in a band? What kind of music did you play? Or are you currently in a band? What is/was the band name? Or if you're not in a band but could play any instrument, what would you want to play?

To check out the very awesome Care Bears on Fire,

I wasn´t in a band sort to speak, but I was a Rodie and a band aid to many of my friends back in highschool... does it count?

I really wanted to be, but I can't play anything! Now I would be happy just making a silly music video for fun :D

I played the saxophone in a band with friends for a couple of years in high school. Was A LOT of fun, I remember a few times where we couldn't play cause we were all laughing really hard, or when one of us would crack up halfway through a song and the rest would follow. I miss playing music. :(

I played bass in a band for like 5 min. But I did play a song with my dad once, who is a real musician. He plays in a few bands at night but is a drum teacher by day. When I was tking bass lessons me him and friend on guitar played a police song. He still talks about it, it was awesome

Does marching, symphonic, and jazz band in high school count? :)

Nope no actual band. I worked at the Fudgery and sang in Gospel choirs so that was as band-like as it got. I am actually looking into doing hooks and background vocals for a couple of performers and bands but that really doesn't count.

My friends and I tried to start our own Spice Girls-esque band but we ran into problems when it came to songwriting. I always wanted to be in a cool pop-punk band and a friend of mine and I tried to learn the guitar. I still have my acoustic Fender. My dream in life is to start a band that plays only the music from Evita. From start to finish, that's what we play every show. It'd be like a 20-person band and it would rock. Anybody interested?

Haha that must've been a fun video to make, what with paint being thrown all over them at the end.
OMG I love the video and the girls rock. I would have loved to have been in band but I wasn't sadly.

I sang in an original band for a few years ago. Everyone kept saying like we sounded like a chick band mixed with an arena rock band. Every time after a show, someone would come up to us and say "You guys sound like the Go-Go's mixed with Skynyrd" or "You remind me of Blondie-meets-Band Company."

Yep, I am currently in a band, mainly as a singer/lyricist. I've been in three different bands, but this one is the most productive (musically speaking).

I was in a "band" when I was like 11 or 12, we would gather at the park at the park by our house and bring songs that we had written (one of my epic songs were called "Friends Forever"). All I know is that our band name was the Fab Five and we never actually sang together, which is probably a good thing because none of us could sing worth a damn.

I'm a vocalist that can play so many different instruments and I have perfect pitch (which helps because I'm an audio engineer) I was in 3 different bands growing up. The first was a ska and metal meshed together (hilarious, i know), the second was a punk rock band i was 16 in both of those. the third was an adult punk rock/cover band (i was only 17, everyone else was 25+) I sang vocals and BGs and recorded them.... those were the days. Now i'm a boring old woman at 20. haha
