If you just can't get enough of NBC's live musicals [1], then you're in luck. During a recent Paley Center panel, NBC Entertainment chairman Bob Greenblatt announced that a Bye Bye Birdie adaptation is in the works [2] with — get this — Jennifer Lopez [3]! The Cast

So far, Jennifer Lopez is the only actress attached to the project. She is set to star as Rosie, who was played by Chita Rivera in the 1960 Tony-winning Broadway musical. "Broadway musicals and films fueled my childhood and Bye Bye Birdie was one of my favorites," Lopez said in a statement. "I'm proud to be a part of the NBC family with Shades of Blue and I thought it would be a blast to take on one of their big live musicals."

The Producers

Not only will Lopez star in the production, but she will also produce alongside Nuyorican Productions' Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas and her manager, Benny Medina. Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, the masterminds behind NBC's previous live musicals, are also set to executive produce.

The Writer

Harvey Fierstein, who will reprise his role as Edna Turnblad [4] in NBC's Hairspray Live [5], will pen the script.

The Release Date

It's being shopped as a holiday musical, but no official release date has been set.
