Cate Blanchett [2] is biting off a big role! The two-time Oscar winner (for The Aviator and Blue Jasmine) will play the legendary Lucille Ball in an authorized biopic [3], to be written by Aaron Sorkin. Ball and Desi Arnaz's children, Lucie Arnaz and Desi Arnaz Jr., are producing the film, which is a great sign. The script hasn't even been written yet, so we don't have a release date and probably won't for a while. Blanchett can next be seen in Carol [4], the buzzy adaptation of Patricia Highsmith's novel The Price of Salt. Basically, she has award season booked for the next several years.
