Chance the Rapper and Shawn Mendes's "Ballin Flossin" Is Like Butter Sizzling in a Skillet

OK, let me explain why Chance the Rapper and Shawn Mendes's new song "Ballin Flossin" reminds me of smooth butter in a hot skillet. (There's a sentence I'm sure you weren't expecting to read today.) The track — which is featured on Chance's debut album The Big Day — blends Mendes's vocals and Chance's flow with ease for a poppy, hip-hop bop. And the first thing it reminded me of was butter (i.e., Mendes's silky pipes) that's sizzling in a skillet (i.e., the edgy sharpness of Chance's verses). I said what I said, and this is the hill I'm willing to die on!

Anyway, the mashup — which also includes a sample from Brandy's 1994 hit "I Wanna Be Down" — is one of the standout tunes on Chance's new LP. It seems like it was an inevitable collaboration considering Mendes previously sang an incredible cover of Chance's 2016 track "All We Got." Thankfully, the duo hit the studio for "Ballin Flossin," and we have a new jam to dance to in front of the mirror. And whether or not you agree with my oddly specific analogy, you have to admit: this song slaps.
