Sometimes, every now and then, we receive a pop culture gift that is just so perfect, we can't believe we never thought to ask for it before. In this case, Cher, who briefly appears [1] in the Mamma Mia! sequel Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again [2], and belts out ABBA hits like "Fernando," [3] is taking her love of the Swedish band's music to the next level. After sharing a series of cryptic tweets with her Twitter followers over the last few weeks, Cher confirmed that an album of ABBA covers, aptly titled Dancing Queen [4], is on the way.
"I've always liked ABBA and saw the original Mamma Mia musical on Broadway three times," Cher said. "After filming Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, I was reminded again of what great and timeless songs they wrote and started thinking 'Why not do an album of their music?' The songs were harder to sing than I imagined but I'm so happy with how the music came out. I'm really excited for people to hear it. It's a perfect time."
The album will drop on Sept. 28 via Warner Bros. Records and was produced by the 72-year-old's longtime collaborator Mark Taylor, who's responsible for Cher singles like "Believe." Check out the track list below, then hear a preview of what's to come ahead!
