Christian Bale has been racking up acclaim and award nominations aplenty for his role in The Fighter, so it's no surprise that he's adding a new project to his slate. Bale has just signed on for Zhang Yimou's big-budget flick Nanjing Heroes, which chronicles the Nanjing Massacre of 1937.
Bale will play an American priest who helps Chinese people to safety in the midst of a killing spree by the hands of Japanese soldiers. It's yet another epic film for the actor, though this role sounds unlike any of the characters he's portrayed in the past. The film's real-life premise sounds intriguing (if not horrifying), and I'm sure with Bale on board, the Chinese film will get plenty of promotion here in the States.
