Could Drew Carey Host "The Price Is Right"?

Could Drew Carey Host "The Price Is Right"?

Now that we've stopped reeling from the possibility of Rosie O'Donnell inheriting Bob Barker's hosting gig on "The Price Is Right," the next rumored name making the rounds is Drew Carey.

Variety is even reporting on the speculation, saying "Carey makes a lot of sense for the Barker job, given his mainstream, blue-collar appeal. His comic roots — and a past gig on the ABC improv show 'Whose Line Is it Anyway' — also give him the ability to think quickly on his feet."

This is all true, though I wonder if Carey has Barker's particular brand of charisma that makes the show such a daytime favorite. What do you think?

sure he could, but would you really want him to?? i think they should've let it go with bob, it will never be the same sad.

I think they should just cancel the show, it just won't be the same without Bob

The great thing about Drew Carey is that to me he always looks like he's as surprised as anyone that he's as famous as he is, but as long as he's there he's going to really give it a ride. He seems to be really decent with non-famous people, so I think he'd do just fine on The Price Is Right. I'd watch him at least once! :)

No one will ever be able to fill Bob Barker's shoes and carry the long thin microphone like he can. I never quite understood the appeal of Drew Carey, so I guess I'll have to wait and see how he does.

I don't think he'd be the right fit; my pick is Dave Price from the CBS Morning Show-- Price is already his name and everything!!

I don't know, I'm undecided on this one... Drew is funny and likeable, but those are some big shoes to fill! I can't really imagine who would be right for the job. If Steve from 90210 got it, I would definitely tivo that first episode, that would just be too funny!

I agree that he is very likeable and would be a great replacement. I hope that the show will continue.

He'd be great. I won't watch, regardless of the host, but he'd do a fine job. He's very likeable.

I think Drew Carey has a wider career ahead of him than hosting a tv game show. This is a long-term commitment, I wouldn't like to see him stuck in a rut like that. I think an earlier candidate name tossed around, Ian Ziering (of 90210) would be a better fit. His names still fresh from Dancing with the Stars, he's well known by a Gen X'ers from 90210, and no doubt he could use the work.

I agree, LaLaLaurie; it's so hard to imagine anyone replacing Bob Barker. Maybe they need to be looking for someone without star studded appeal and let that person create the new "personality" for the show.

Whoever hosts, the show will not be the same. No one can replace Bob Barker. :(
