Audiences are heading back to the Overlook Hotel. Warner Bros. confirmed a while back that it would be adapting Stephen King's Doctor Sleep [1], the sequel to his hugely successful and very terrifying The Shining. Ewan McGregor [2] stars as Danny Torrance, while Rebecca Ferguson will portray the villain, Rose the Hat.
In Doctor Sleep, Danny is still dealing with the aftermath of the events that took place at the Overlook Hotel when he was a child. Now an adult, Danny uses his psychic abilities to comfort patients at a small-town hospice. The plot really picks up, however, with the discovery of a group that preys on young people who also possess psychic powers, and who are after one girl in particular.
Mike Flanagan, who previously worked on Gerald's Game [3], Ouija: Origin of Evil, and Hush [4], is also on board as the director. So, yeah, this should be terrifying as hell. Ewan McGregor as Danny Torrance
The Christopher Robin actor portrays Danny Torrance, son of Jack and Wendy Torrance. Now an adult, Danny has grappled with his family's dark past, as well as his own alcoholism, and works at a hospice in a remote town.
Rebecca Ferguson as Rose the Hat
The Greatest Showman star [7] is attached as Rose the Hat, the leader of the True Knot, a group of twisted psychics who feed off the spirits of children who possess psychic powers, also referred to as "the shining." This should be fun.
Zahn McClarnon as Crow Daddy
The Westworld actor will pop up as Rose's right-hand man and lover, Crow Daddy.
Alex Essoe as Wendy Torrance
Essoe has prior experience in several horror films, and is taking on the role of Wendy Torrance, presumably in flashbacks.
Carl Lumbly as Dick Halloran
The Supergirl actor will play Dick Halloran, a cook at the Overlook Hotel who spoke to Danny about the shining, a power he too possessed.
Emily Alyn Lind as Snakebite Andi
Code Black actress Emily Alyn Lind plays Snakebite Andi, who gets her nickname thanks to a snake tattoo she has. She's a member of the True Knot, hates men because of her history with her abusive father, and has the ability to make people fall asleep through suggestion.
Bruce Greenwood as Dr. John
The Resident star will play Abra's family doctor, Dr. John.
Jacob Tremblay
The young rising star, who generated buzz for his jaw-dropping performance in Room, is attached to the sequel in an unnamed role. We can't wait to find out who he plays.
Kyliegh Curran as Abra Stone
Newcomer Kyliegh Curran plays Abra Stone, the young woman who has the most spectacular case of "shine" ever seen. With Danny's help, she stands a chance against battling Rose the Hat and the True Knot.
