What was old is new again! That seems to be the mantra for this year's Fall TV lineup [1], which features several shows that are more than a little bit familiar. Fox, CBS, and The CW are all reviving old shows and movies, but thankfully, they're all putting their own new spins on the properties. The Exorcist
- Based on: The classic 1973 horror film
- The new premise: Two very different priests (Alfonso Herrera and Ben Daniels) have no choice but to come together to fight the mysterious evil plaguing the Rance family.
- When you can watch it: Fridays at 9 p.m. on Fox
Frequency
- Based on: The 2000 thriller starring Dennis Quaid and Jim Caviezel
- The new premise: A talented detective (Peyton List) is shocked when she begins to communicate with her long-dead father (Riley Smith) using his ham radio.
- When you can watch it: Wednesdays at 9 p.m. on The CW
Lethal Weapon
- Based on: The hit '80s and '90s action franchise starring Mel Gibson [3] and Danny Glover
- The new premise: Clayne Crawford and Damon Wayans, Sr. are taking over the parts of trigger-happy Martin Riggs and family man Robert Murtaugh in this reboot. Get ready for lots of high-speed chases and off-the-cuff humor in this buddy-cop action-comedy.
- When you can watch it: Wednesdays at 8 p.m. on Fox
MacGyver
- Reboot of: The popular '80s series about a creative secret agent
- The new premise: CBS is presenting the origin story of Angus "Mac" MacGyver, now played by Lucas Till. George Eads (CSI: Crime Scene Investigation) is costarring as a former CIA agent who joins Mac's team.
- When you can watch it: Fridays at 8 p.m. on CBS
24: Legacy
- Reboot of: Fox's action-packed TV series that ran from 2001 to 2010
- The new premise: Corey Hawkins (Straight Outta Compton) is playing Sergeant Eric Carter, a badass who is tasked with saving the world from terrorists, Jack Bauer style.
- When you can watch it: Midseason on Fox
Training Day
- Based on: Antoine Fuqua's 2001 cop drama starring Denzel Washington [4] and Ethan Hawke [5]
- The new premise: This reimagining takes place 15 years after the movie, when the LAPD assigns a young cop (Justin Cornwell) to train with a seasoned detective (Bill Paxton) who they believe may be crooked.
- When you can watch it: Midseason on CBS
Prison Break
- Reboot of: The popular TV series that ran on Fox from 2005 to 2009
- The new premise: The same core actors are returning in this continuation of the hit show. This time around, Lincoln (Dominic Purcell) is the one breaking Michael (Wentworth Miller [6]) out of prison.
- When you can watch it: Midseason on Fox
