Don't Worry — You Can Still See Your Fave Game of Thrones Actors in Other Projects

Jun 14 2019 - 9:30am

After eight years, Game of Thrones [1] is finally over [2]. It's strange to realize that we'll never again see those now-iconic characters on our screens, but the good news is that we'll still have plenty of projects to watch our favorite GOT actors in! The blockbuster series has made household names out of previously unknown actors and brought longtime industry vets back into the spotlight, so there's no shortage of movies and TV shows to choose from [3] if you're looking to catch your GOT faves in something new. Below, we've rounded up a selection of the most prolific GOT actors and where you can watch their biggest side projects!

Sean Bean

Sean Bean came into Thrones with a successful career already, with iconic roles in Lord of the Rings as well as recognizable titles like National Treasure. He later had a supporting role in the sci-fi drama The Martian and the British series The Frankenstein Chronicles.

Medici: Masters of Florence [5] and The Frankenstein Chronicles [6] are available on Netflix.

Kit Harington

In between playing reluctant hero Jon Snow, Kit Harington found time for a handful of other roles too, ranging from the action-adventure Pompeii to the romantic drama Testament of Youth, and voicing Eret in the How to Train Your Dragon franchise.

Sophie Turner

Sophie Turner just wrapped her arc as a young Jean Grey in the X-Men film series. You can catch her turn in Dark Phoenix in theaters now! For something a little closer to home, her teen-spy movie Barely Lethal is available on Netflix [7].

Maisie Williams

Keeping within the sci-fi and fantasy umbrella, Maisie Williams had a guest arc on Doctor Who. More recently, she starred in the romantic drama Then Came You and the sci-fi thriller iBoy.

Then Came You [8] and iBoy [9] are available on Netflix.

Richard Madden

Richard Madden has had quite the busy career since Robb Stark was killed off Game of Thrones in its third season. His résumé since then includes Prince Kit in the 2015 live-action Cinderella, Cosimo de' Medici in Medici: Masters of Florence, and a Golden Globe-winning role in Bodyguard. Most recently, he plays John Reid in the Elton John musical biopic Rocketman.

Bodyguard [10] and Medici: Masters of Florence [11] are available to stream on Netflix.

Gwendoline Christie

Unless you've been living in pop culture exile, you probably know that Gwendoline Christie snagged a villainous role in the latest Star Wars trilogy as Captain Phasma.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is available on Netflix [12].

Peter Dinklage

Emmy-winner Peter Dinklage has a laundry list of roles, though none as memorable (or acclaimed) as Tyrion Lannister. For the most part, he's had supporting roles in everything from a Narnia film to the drama Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri and more.

Options for streaming Dinklage's projects including Penelope [13] and Avengers: Infinity War [14] (both on Netflix).

Lena Headey

If you're missing Cersei Lannister (Seriously, who isn't?), you can catch Lena Headey in equally badass roles in the TV series Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, a pair of 300 films, and Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. Unfortunately, none of her major titles are available on major streaming platforms at the moment.

Charles Dance

Charles Dance has a résumé that stretches far beyond his role as the scheming Lannister patriarch, from historical dramas to action epics. His most recent project, The Widow, is an Amazon Prime original series.

You can watch Dance in The Imitation Game on Netflix [15] and The Widow on Amazon Prime [16].

Natalie Dormer

Natalie Dormer already had one notable role before taking on the part of Margaery Tyrell: she played Anne Boleyn in the historical drama The Tudors. Since then, she's appeared in the Hunger Games series, had a recurring role on the CBS drama Elementary, and appeared in several other films.

The Tudors is available for streaming on Netflix [17].

Finn Jones

Finn Jones followed up his role as gay knight Loras Tyrell with a full-on superhero role in the Netflix/Marvel series Iron Fist.

Iron Fist is available for streaming on Netflix [18].

Iain Glen

Iain Glen won our loyalty as the steadfast Jorah Mormont, and you can see him in another adventure series in the Resident Evil franchise. His other roles include historical dramas (Downton Abbey and Mrs. Wilson) as well as a slew of British television and film.

Resident Evil is available for streaming on Hulu [19], and Downton Abbey is available on Amazon Prime [20].

Jason Momoa

Before his stint as Khal Drogo, Jason Momoa [21] was no stranger to the sci-fi, fantasy world: he had a major role on Stargate Atlantis as Ronon Dex. Since GOT, Momoa has starred in several action films, including Conan the Barbarian and, most recently, as Aquaman in the DC Extended Universe.

Stargate Atlantis is available on Hulu [22].

Emilia Clarke

Emilia Clarke wrapped her role as Daenerys Targaryen this year, but she's already been branching out from her star-making role. Her most notable roles outside of GOT have been the romantic drama Me Before You and as Han Solo's first love in the Star Wars prequel Solo: A Star Wars Story.

Solo: A Star Wars Story is available on Netflix [23].

Jonathan Pryce

Jonathan Pryce appeared in the supporting role of the High Sparrow, but he's been a leading man on stage and screen for decades. Among his most well-known projects are Evita, Tomorrow Never Dies, and the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. He's next set to play Pope Francis in the upcoming Netflix film The Pope.

Aiden Gillen

Aiden Gillen, who played the ever-scheming Petyr Baelish, has a long career of starring in acclaimed series. Among his well-known previous projects are the British series Peaky Blinders and the HBO drama The Wire. More recently, he's starred in the Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody and currently in the History Channel series Project Blue Book.

The Wire is available on Amazon Prime [24] and Peaky Blinders is available on Netflix [25].

Michiel Huisman

Dutch actor Michiel Huisman, who played Daario Naharis, has appeared in plenty of movies and TV shows, many with a historical setting. His popular projects include the creepy series The Haunting of Hill House, historical drama The Young Victoria, and, recently, a pair of romances: The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society and Irreplaceable You.

The Haunting of Hill House [26], The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society [27], and Irreplaceable You [28] are all available on Netflix.

Pedro Pascal

Pedro Pascal became a fan favorite for playing Dornish prince Oberyn Martell, but he's also one of the stars of the acclaimed crime drama series Narcos.

Narcos is available now on Netflix [29].
