"No one can interweave the jeopardy firefighters face in the line of duty with the drama in their personal lives quite like Shonda, and Grey's signature Seattle setting is the perfect backdrop for this exciting spinoff," said Channing Dungey, ABC's entertainment president, during the network's presentation at Upfronts.

Rhimes will serve as an executive producer, along with longtime collaborator Betsy Beers. Grey's Anatomy [2] showrunner Stacy McKee will be "spearhead" the new show.
