It's almost been a month since the highly anticipated first episodes of Scream Queens, but we're already having so much fun with Fox's deadly horror comedy. It's great to theorize about the killer, of course, but one of the show's most intriguing aspects is all the allusions it makes to classic horror movies. We already knew the show was paying homage to The Shining, and Jamie Lee Curtis has teased an upcoming Psycho reference. What we totally missed, though, was a nudge at one of the most classic slasher films ever: Halloween! Keep reading to see how the horror film manifests on the show.

The Origin of the Head Tilt

The Michael Myers head tilt first came into play in the first Halloween movie, right after he kills Bob. You can see him staring at his handiwork and tilting his head back and forth several times. It's a creepy, odd behavior to display, and it's been appropriated by other classic serial killers, including Friday the 13th's Jason Voorhees.

Jamie Lee Curtis — who, as you may recall, was in the original Halloween in 1978 — literally gave a slight nod to the move on the second episode of Scream Queens. You might think it's a stretch, but Curtis pointed it out as a direct reference in her interview with Variety back in August. She said, "That's just a little homage to all those people who loved that movie. It made me smile." Talk about a full-circle moment!
