It's officially September, which means it's officially time to start brainstorming potential Halloween [1] costumes. If you want to do a couples costume [2] or a group costume [3] with your friends, but you want to make sure it's a little more creative than usual, why not dress up as the most iconic enemies from movies and TV this year? From superheroes with beef to Blake Lively [4] and a great white shark, we've rounded up 2016's biggest onscreen feuds that will make excellent costumes.
Jon Snow and Ramsay Bolton From Game of Thrones
- For Jon: A long, fuzzy fur jacket over your black or dark-gray battle armor and boots. Wear a black curly wig, carry a sword, and look sad.
- For Ramsay: Black pants, black leather gloves, a black jacket, and a long cape with fur at the collar. Wear a brown wig, and to add a special touch, carry around a few dog stuffed animals or a shield with the Bolton sigil on it.
Captain Kirk and Krall From Star Trek Beyond
- For Captain Kirk: Kirk's trademark yellow-green Starship Enterprise uniform [7], of course.
- For Krall: Some black armor, black pants, and heavy-duty boots. Oh, and a lot of blue face paint [8].
The Ghostbusters and the Slimer From Ghostbusters
- For the Ghostbusters: A Ghostbusters suit is easy to come by in any costume store, but adding extra touches like the right hair, accessories, and personalities will make your costumes that much better.
- For the Slimer: A large green dress (or t-shirt and pants), as well as metallic green face paint. Make sure your tongue is hanging out all night.
Harley Quinn and Enchantress From Suicide Squad

- For Enchantress: Wear an olive-green crop top and skirt (or pants), and get a stringy black wig. Go heavy (and we mean heavy) on the eyeliner, and smear streaks of green and black eye shadow on your face and chest. Add her crescent moon headpiece [10] and a chunky necklace and bangles to complete your look.
Apocalypse and Professor X From X-Men: Apocalypse
- For Apocalypse: Use blue paint to cover your face and hands, and wear it with silver armor. A silver helmet wouldn't be out of the question, either.
- For Professor X: A bald cap to match your skin tone and a sharp, navy-blue suit.
Nancy and a Great White Shark From The Shallows
- For Nancy: If it's hot enough, all you'd need to rock is a blond wig, an orange bikini, and smears of fake blood (don't forget the shark bite on her leg!). Otherwise, get yourself a wet suit (or black yoga pants and a tight black long-sleeved shirt you can cut down the middle), and wear your bikini under it. If you can carry around a mini version of her surfboard with a big shark bite on it, you'll be golden.

Sara and Ravenna From The Huntsman: Winter's War
- For Sara: A red wig pulled back into a ponytail, with a thin braid hanging down on one side. Sara is extra fond of leather, so bust out your leather pants or leggings and wear them with a leather peplum top (which you can feel free to adorn with faux plates of armor). Get a bow and arrow to drive it home.
- For Ravenna: A gold cape (go above and beyond by gluing some feathers onto it and spray painting them gold), a gold crown, a blond, braided wig, and a gold dress. Also, get a little raven figurine or stuffed animal to perch on your shoulder.
Negan and Rick From The Walking Dead
- For Negan: We have a feeling Negan will be a popular costume this year, and for good reason. Slick your hair back, glue on a mustache, and then put on a black leather jacket, a red scarf, dark pants, a leather glove on one hand, and carry around a baseball bat covered in barbed wire.
- For Rick: If you're going for an early version of Rick, a dirty brown cop uniform will do. In more current seasons, he's been strutting around in jeans, a plain white t-shirt, and a sheepskin jacket. Splatter it all in blood, make sure your face is covered in scruff, and you're good to go.
Barb Holland and Steve Harrington From Stranger Things
- For Barb: Barb's role in Stranger Things [15] might not be the most robust, but her wardrobe certainly is. Once you've figured out a way to get her short red hairstyle, get a plaid shirt with as many ruffles as possible, high-waisted light-wash (mom) jeans, a thin watch, and some Sally Jessy Raphael glasses. Feel free to tote around a fake notebook or binder.
- For Steve: So you want to be the popular guy, huh? Buy a brown wig, then tuck a striped, long-sleeved polo into some belted khakis and rock a pair of brown loafers. Don't be afraid to pop the collar.
Greta and Brahms From The Boy
- For Greta: A shoulder-length brown wig with jeans, a blue tank-top, and a white cardigan.
- For Brahms: A white collared shirt and tie under a blue blazer or sweater. Paint your face stark white and perfect a blank-yet-ominous stare.
Deadpool and Ajax From Deadpool
- For Deadpool: This [17].
- For Ajax: Gray cargo pants, a tight gray long-sleeved shirt, and either a vest like this [18] or a black leather jacket. You could also be the version of him in the lab scenes, which would basically only require you to wear a white lab coat and write "Ajax" somewhere on it.

- For Mac: Go shirtless [19] (or wear a nude bodysuit), and draw on the fake abs and pecs that he does in the movie. Pair that with orange booty shorts, a baseball hat, glasses, and facial hair.
- For Shelby: A blond wig, jeans, and a shirt or tank top with "Kappa Nu" written on it.

- For Rocky: A pair of leggings layered under some jean shorts, a white tank-top, and a dark zip-up hoodie and gloves. Wear a short blond wig and a red backpack stuffed with fake money to go the extra mile.
