How Many Pirates Are Enough?

According to a recent article in the UK's The Telegraph, Johnny Depp claims he is "not finished" with the character of Captain Jack Sparrow, and would welcome more installments of the Pirates of the Caribbean series after At World's End, which opens this Thursday night. Depp is quoted as saying,

"I'm the luckiest guy in the world to have had such a great experience. If I walk away from Jack now, I'll walk away with some amazing memories. But At World's End leaves open the possibility of a fourth or fifth movie, which I wouldn't be opposed to on an actor level because I feel there is a lot more territory to explore with Captain Jack."

I don't know about you guys but there would have to be some extremely awesome "character work" on the part of Johnny Depp to stretch out the Pirates movies even more than they have been. I might be tapped out after this third movie. But tell me: Would you be interested in more Pirates of the Caribbean movies?

I would absolutely LOVE another pirates, but might I suggest that the next one not be as long as the third. It turned many people off from the movie!
I love the Pirates movies. Think of Harry Potter...they start to getting annoying after awhile. :|

After seeing At World's End, I definitely think they need to add another one.

Am I the only one who hasn't seen any of them? Probably...though I do like Johnny Depp!

I too loved the first one, and was so-so about the second. I love the concept so much though, no matter how many they made, I'd pay to see them. Everyone wants to go on an adventure, everyone wants to be a pirate, they've really tapped into one of the fantasies that apply to the vast majority of the people in the world and they can be tough to find. It's been a marketing treasure chest for Disney. This one movie that's pure "product" that I'm willing to pay for the product.

Johnny Depp has said he would be interested in continuing the role as long as the scripts were good. I respect him a lot as an actor for not taking on the role just for the sake of being Captain Jack Sparrow; he really cares about the films themselves.

I wouldn't think you could have too many ;)

Nobody has stopped Sylvester Stallone on Rocky or Rambo or how about Bruce Willis with Die Hard. Nobody should stop Johnny either. By the way I saw the first and second and they were both great. I can't wait for the third, fourth, fifth, etc.

No one should stop Johnny if he wants to make more. But I personally liked the first one and I heard the second one was awful and boring. I'm not interested in seeing the third one either to be honest. But he should do what he wants.

Johnny Depp is hilarious as Captain Jack, but if he wants to do some more movies, he'd better hope the plots don't suck. Three seems to be the maximum number of movies you can get people to see on any one idea, but it would be nice to see Pirates break that.

I love me some Pirates. I love all the movies, and am going to see the early release on Thursday. If I had had the $ I would have done the Disney premier, too. I would welcome more PotC movies, but there is a danger in the fun and the quality going down with each successful sequel, and things that were new and clever in the first two or three movies start to get old by four or five (Lethal Weapon, anyone?). That said, I giant puffy heart captain jack sparrow, and I would welcome more of his adventures, so long as they were done right!
