The world shone a little less bright when Stan Lee passed away [1] on Monday morning, and his Marvel family wasted no time sharing their sympathies regarding his passing [2] and their favorite memories with the comics legend. One of those stars in question was Hugh Jackman [3]. During a stop on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert [4], the Wolverine actor took a moment to share some kind words about Lee, calling him "a true gentleman" and "creative genius." "He changed the lives of many people, mine included," Jackman said. Stephen Colbert [5] also shared one of his favorite memories with Lee, adding, "Thanks for all the great stories, Stan, and I know you're hearing this a lot today, but excelsior!"
Jackman is best known for his role as Wolverine in the X-Men films, which were based on Lee and Marvel cocreater Jack Kirby's comics. Shortly after the news of Lee's passing broke, the actor posted a snap of him and Lee on Instagram, writing, "We've lost a creative genius. Stan Lee was a pioneering force in the superhero universe. I'm proud to have been a small part of his legacy and .... to have helped bring one of his characters to life."
