Why a Friends Reboot Would Never Work, According to Jennifer Aniston

Earlier this year, fans of the Friends TV show received a glorious gift: a long-awaited cast reunion, with the exception of Matthew Perry, who was busy. While it was great to see most of the show's major players all in one room, the reunion only further fueled our desire for one thing: new episodes of Friends. Could it ever happen? I mean, Will & Grace's reboot is reportedly in the works, so never say never, right? Not so fast. In a recent on-camera interview, Jennifer Aniston threw a damper on a possible return to TV. The worst part is, her reasoning is actually pretty sound.

During the interview, when she was asked to weigh in on a reboot, Aniston said, "Honestly, I don't know what we would do! I think that period of time was sort of nostalgic. I think why people have such an affection for it is because . . . there was something about a time where our faces weren't shoved into cell phones. We weren't checking Facebooks and Instagrams. We were in a room together, or at a coffee shop together. We were talking, having conversations. We have lost that." She has a point. What would Friends look like in the age of social media? Would they be able to pull it off, or would the show's inherent magic be totally lost? We know, it's kind of a bummer to have your hopes dashed. But hey, at least you'll have all those reruns to watch for the rest of time.
