The Latest Poster For Jordan Peele's New Horror Movie, Us, Will Creep You ALLLL the Way Out

Dec 16 2018 - 11:10am

It's been well over a year since Jordan Peele [1] released his debut movie, Get Out, and people are still creating theories [2] about all the subtle nuances within the film. If you're one of those many fans, we bring you amazing news! The Oscar-winning [3] director has been hard at work on his second film, Us, dropping a new movie poster and release date on Twitter [4]. From its premiere to who's joined the cast [5] to what Us will be about, we've rounded up everything we know so far. Stay tuned for updates, we know you won't want to miss anything about Peele's next move!

The New Poster

A few months after the first artsy, toned-down poster for the film was released, a second, far more disturbing image has taken its place. Shared on Peele's Instagram account, the poster shows a man's hands clasping gold scissors (that seem to have some kind of antlers at the top of them, if you look near his fingers), while wearing a brown leather glove on one hand and a deep, red robe. Is anyone else getting cult vibes?!

The Plot

Though details of the plot are still fairly scarce [7], we do know that the story focuses on two couples, one white and one black. According to an interview with Insider [8], the film will be the second in a series of thrillers that addresses what Peele calls "social demons." Much like Get Out examines race and racism, Us will center around "these innately human monsters that are woven into the fabric of how we think and how we interact." While he says the movie will follow the same tone as Get Out, it will be a completely different film and not focus on addressing race.

/Film revealed a synopsis sent out with recent test screening invites [9] that gives more information, confirming that the movie is about a couple (Lupita Nyong'o and Winston Duke) who take their kids to their beach house to unwind with friends (who include Elisabeth Moss [10] and possibly her onscreen husband, Tim Heidecker). Their night "turns to chaos when some shocking visitors arrive uninvited." Though the synopsis is still pretty vague, it also manages to be hella ominous.

The Cast

Lupita Nyong'o was the first official cast member of Us, having been confirmed to star as one half of a couple May 16, when she shared the movie poster on her Instagram account [11]. Winston Duke and Elisabeth Moss [12] joined the project soon after, to play her husband and one half of the white couple respectively. The Hollywood Reporter announced that Tim Heidecker joined the cast [13], completing the foursome. Rounding out the rest of the cast [14] are Yahya Abdul-Mateen II [15], Anna Diop, Shahadi Wright Joseph, Evan Alex, Madison Curry, Cali Sheldon, and Noelle Sheldon.

The Production Team

Us will be written and directed by Peele and produced by his company Monkeypaw Productions, along with Get Out producer Jason Blum. The film is set to be released March 22, 2019.
