In the lead-up to Kesha's first album since 2012, Rainbow, the singer-songwriter dropped a handful [1] of beautiful singles [2] (as well as one seriously kickass one [3]) with emotional personal essays [4] to go along with each. On Friday, the same day Rainbow debuted, Kesha released the music video for the titular single. In an essay for Refinery29 [5], Kesha explained the meaning behind her raw lyrics and how she hopes the song encourages self-love. "There's a line in 'Rainbow' that I really love: 'What's left of my heart is still made of gold,'" she wrote. "I truly believe that. It's true for me, and it can be true for others, too. I know giant pieces of my heart have been held captive in the past. But not anymore. And what's left is f*cking pure gold, and no one can touch that." Listen to it above.
