It is quite the change of pace, but Disney is all about formulas, and their influence on Pixar has them following suit. During the 90's Disney had nothing but compelling female leads. Sure, the 90's girls were princesses and love interests, but they rocked! Princess Jasmine..."I'm not some prize to be won!", The Little Mermaid..."I'm 16 years old, I'm not a child!", Pocahontas preventing wars, Esmeralda--Independent career girl battling the Catholic church! That worked then, dudes work now. Maybe things will change once Rapunzel, and The Princess and the Frog get off the ground. Enchanted was definitely a success! Pixar, take notes!

i was wondering if anyone would ever start talking about that... there is a startling lack of main female characters in pixar movies. that doesn't mean that they're not freaking fabulous nor does it mean that we should move towards token-females. it's probably just something they should consider.
