Rosemarie DeWitt is set to portray Linda McCullough, Elena's childhood friend who tries to adopt an infant Chinese girl. The actress is known for a number of different film parts, including those in Rachel Getting Married, La La Land, and Poltergeist. She recently played the mother in Black Mirror [8]'s 2017 episode "Arkangel [9]."
Joshua Jackson as Bill Richardson
Joshua Jackson [10] will play Elena's husband, Bill Richardson, a respected lawyer in the Shaker Heights community who argues on behalf of the McCulloughs. He's a seasoned actor who's appeared on shows such as Dawson's Creek [11] and Fringe in addition to starring in films such as Cruel Intentions and The Mighty Ducks. Jackson recently appeared in Ava DuVernay [12]'s When They See Us [13] as Antron's lawyer.
Reese Witherspoon as Elena Richardson
Reese Witherspoon [14] will portray Elena Richardson, the Richardson matriarch who's also a Shaker Heights journalist. Even if you've only been minimally exposed to pop culture, you definitely know who Witherspoon is given that she's portrayed so many iconic characters [15] such as Tracy Flick from Election and Elle Woods from Legally Blonde [16]. Kerry Washington as Mia Warren
Kerry Washington [18] will play Mia Warren, a free-spirited artist who stays with the Richardson family with her teenage daughter Pearl. You've probably seen Washington in a couple of things, but her most notorious yet is of that of the no-nonsense political consultant Olivia Pope [19] on Scandal [20].
Alona Tal as Young Linda McCullough
The SEAL Team actress will show the pain and heartbreak young Linda experiences due to grief and infertility
Jesse Williams as Joe Ryan
The Grey's Anatomy [21] actor will take on the role of Joe [22], a wealthy Wall Street employee whose wife, Madeline, struggles to conceive. Wanting to start a family, Joe and Madeline turn to an unlikely source for help.
Matthew Barnes as Young Bill Richardson
Barnes' role will reveal the tough career decisions young Bill, an aspiring Shaker Heights attorney, must make to support his growing family with Elena. Barnes is also known for portraying Lucas in FX's Atlanta and Agent Wallace in CBS's Strange Angel.
AnnaSophia Robb as Young Elena Richardson
Robb — known for Hulu's The Act [23] and the CW's The Carrie Diaries [24] — will give viewers a look into Elena's past and how the birth of her fourth child, Izzy, forces her to face everything she ran away from.
Tiffany Boone as Young Mia Warren
Boone is set to portray Mia in flashbacks as she reveals the extreme lengths the character goes to stay in art school after her scholarship is revoked. If Boone looks familiar, you might have seen her in the Showtime drama The Chi.
Andy Favreau as Young Mark McCullough
Favreau's character — Linda's husband and a friend of the Richardsons — goes through hardship as he and his wife, Linda, struggle to have children. Favreau's part is quite the departure from his role in ABC comedy Single Parents, so we're looking forward to seeing how he encapsulates the McCulloughs' trials.
Lexi Underwood as Pearl Warren
Lexi Underwood will star as Pearl Warren, Mia's teenage daughter. The teenage actress has appeared on shows such as Raven's Home and Walk the Prank. She also lent her voice to SNL's The David S. Pumpkins Halloween [25] Special as the character Paige.
Gavin Lewis as Moody Richardson
Gavin Lewis will play Moody Richardson, Elena's son who develops a crush on Mia's daughter Pearl. The teenage actor recently appeared in shows such as Roswell, New Mexico and Prince of Peoria.
Jade Pettyjohn as Lexie Richardson
Jade Pettyjohn will play Lexie Richardson, Elena's eldest daughter. Pettyjohn has appeared in a number of TV movies and recently starred in School of Rock as Summer Hathaway.
Luke Bracey as Jamie Caplan
Bracey, known for 2015's Point Break, will depict Elena's ex-boyfriend in flashbacks, reminding her of the skepticism she has about her structured present-day life.
