Lost Theories for the Episode "The Candidate" 2010-05-06 07:30:00

Lost Logic: Reader Thoughts and Theories

I'm still not over the loss of our beloved Sun, Jin, and Sayid, but this week's episode of Lost also opens up a whole new can of worms regarding Flocke's motives, Jack's candidacy and beyond. Let's review some of your own insightful comments, and don't forget to vote for your favorite all-time character.

  • re: the mirrors, Sun also looked into the mirror for a while in a previous episode before she answered the door in the hotel room, as if she were recalling something. — kismekate
  • I'm wondering what happened to Richard, Ben, and Miles who were going to destroy the Ajira plane. — Anonymous
  • And what about the tables being turned regarding Jack and Sawyer? Juliet died because Jack didn't listen to Sawyer and now Jin, Sun and Sayid (and Lapidus?) are dead because Sawyer didn't listen to Jack! — clara91
  • I think the show is definitely setting us up to believe that Jack is the new Jacob, Sawyer is the new MiB, and Hurley might be the new Richard? There are so many parallels now...Sawyer is angry at Jack for killing Juliet and he wants to kill him, just as the MiB wanted to kill Jacob...and Hurley, like Richard, lost the love of his life. — intensebandgeek

I'm not really seeing how Sawyer wants to kill Jack. Sure he was pissed but Jack helped him and he saved his life.

i read this over on jezebel but i think it sounds plausible: mocke wanted to get all the candidates into the sub and kill them at the same time because if all the candidates die EXCEPT ONE, that person automatically becomes the new jacob. if all the candidates would have died at the same time, mocke would have automatically won whatever it is he's trying to win. so the last few episodes are going to focus on all the candidates dying except jack (because sayid said "you're the one, jack) and jack becoming the new jacob.
