Movie Preview: Halloween

It feels way early to be watching the trailer for Rob Zombie's Halloween, but there are only a few weeks left before the horror/thriller hits theaters.

Opening August 31, Halloween tells the story of Mike Meyers' break from the mental institution that has held him since the age of 10, and his bloody quest to find his little sister.

The trailer is effectively scary, though again, it's confusing to see this in the heat of the summer. You can watch the trailer and let me know what you think if you

This movie is a re-imagination of Michael Myers. Think of it as a 'Batman Begins' of Halloween. Rob Zombie said he would not remake the original but tell a more in detail story of Myers himself since the original movies kind of varied on how Michael became a monster. Rob is very creative and a horror movie buff. His originals were great for the genre, so I am not expecting any less of this project.

I'm not a big fan of remakes, especially horror, because I'm a huge horror fan and love the originals. Anyway, this looks really good, and it seems like it gives more of a backstory. Is that JoJo playing Laurie Strode?

Wait, there's going to be another Saw film?! Yay!

This looks so good! I love the original and Rob Zombie is well known and I don't think he would mess up a classic. This is one film I go to the theaters for.

I hate violence. And I'm not too fond of Rob Zombie, either.

Blech I know, I don't understand the success of the Saw franchise at all. Then again I love the Final Destinations so maybe I should get off my high horse.

There's going to be another Saw movie?? Jeez, isn't three enough?

penguins268 - from what I've read, they didn't want to pit this against Saw IV which is opening in time for Halloween. Also the last successful Halloween (H20) was an August release.

Why can't they wait like 2 months and open it on Halloween? Wouldn't that make more marketing sense?

I got to admit I'm coming around, I was appauled when I heard they were remaking this. Especially with Rob Zombie doing it, I was really even more upset. But, the more and more I see clips from it, I'm like ok, it might be ok. SO, I will try to give it a chance. I'm really not sure you can remake a classic and do it in a way, that makes the audience forget they already know the story. I'm a huge, huge horror fan, so they might kick me out of the club if I don't see it.

Michael Myers is by far the BEST. I cannot tell you how I despise horror flicks but for some reason Halloween (1&2) captivates me. I have watched them countless times. The other ones I can do without...Although, I will say OK to Halloween:H20. If it has Jamie Lee you can count me in. The whole reason I love Halloween is because John Carpenter scared the pants off of us WITHOUT using gore. Mike Myers doesn't kill to see blood he kills because it is all part of his master plan to get Laurie. I have a feeling in this remake that Mike Myers will be resorted to gorey killings and to me, it does not sit well since Mike Myers (atleast in the first two) didn't need to slash anyone up or kill them in a gruesome matter. He meticulously planned everything and it had a purpose. Well, there is my rant. I feel like this movie need not be touched but alas, it is too late to protest. Maybe I will rent it one day.

LaLaLaurie, this is a remake. When I heard It was going to be remade, I cringed. I am a big fan of the horror genre, and of the slashers Mike Myers, to me, is the creepiest. To be fair, I have yet to see a Rob Zombie horror flick, they always seem a little too gory for me. I like chills and scares, not gooey grossness. However, once I heard that John Carpenter himself gave Rob his blessing after seeing some story boards, I was interested, and am waiting with baited breath. My poor husband will likely be dragged to this one, but at least he can find comfort in the fact that it is a new version of a movie series I have subjected him too hundreds of times (with the exception of the 3rd Halloween, which has nothing to do with the Myers mythos).

I may be alone in this, but I don't think this is a film that needed to be remade. I think I am just getting very bored of all these remakes...

I really hope that this will be a good remake. Rob Zombie knows the creepy/scary movie genre pretty well so I think it will be ok. I probably won't see it in theaters.

I'm so excited for this. I think Zombie is very talented and I'm a huge horror fan. I hope the studio doesn't make him 'Roth' it up!
