Pharrell took home a Grammy [1] for "Happy" this year, which meant his performance of the hit should have been especially, well, happy. Instead, it opened with a rather dark intro and included a "Hands Up Don't Shoot" salute to Ferguson. He was also decked out in full Grand Budapest Hotel-style bellhop garb to sing the Despicable Me 2 tune. Was it a strange mixture? Sure. But was it just the right amount of awesome? Also yes.
