Recap and Review of Gossip Girl Episode "The Lost Boy" 2009-09-29 07:30:43

Top WTF Moments From Gossip Girl Episode "The Lost Boy"

Are we back on the horse now? After a couple of OK episodes of Gossip Girl, this week's "The Lost Boy" really felt like the show I know and love. Everyone's playing everyone else, everyone's lying to everyone else, mysteries solve and then re-form . . . yes, it was quite the return to form.

I have my favorite parts (and don't forget to take Geek's tech quiz), so to see them (spoilers ahead!), just

  • Don't come a knockin' if the sock's a rockin': Blair walks in on Dan and Georgina! So it was spoiled in last week's promo, but all the same, I was still shocked, shocked, when Blair walks in — after gingerly removing the sock on the door with a glove. To make matters worse for Dan, he's also caught by Serena and then Vanessa. I love how Vanessa hopes he hooked up with Georgina and not Blair, and Serena hopes he hooked up with Blair and not Georgina. Really, S? You're so full of surprises.
  • There is no Scott Adler: Turns out, Rufus and Scott have been hanging out (and in matching striped shirts, no less), which made me want to warn Rufus to ensure his fingernail clippings were still in the trash. Right when things are getting totally creepy, the scorned female admin at NYU informs Vanessa there IS NO Scott Adler. Dun dun dun! But then Scott ends up being sort of normal by confessing his whole story to V.
  • The big reveal that isn't: I don't know if it's understandable or still kind of weird that Scott lies and says he's the brother of Rufus and Lily's son that died. In the understandable column: his mom would be heartbroken. In the weird column: what kind of mom wants her son to tell a ginormous lie?! Plus he's going to look like a crazy person again when the truth inevitably comes out. So understandable = 1, weird = 2.
  • Still crazy after all these years: Well, even though Scott's not a stalker, turns out Georgina is still a whack job. She plays Blair and Chuck against each other with a little ploy, which is not really a crazy person thing to do, just devious, but then we see something no girl should be caught with: a picture of her and Dan on her computer desktop! After like, two days. Oh, Georgina, no.
  • Serena, back in action: The old girl pulled out of her dense party-girl fog to discover Georgina's Patrick McMullan scheme, then tells Dan about her evil ways, which felt more mean girl than good Samaritan. I may have cackled a little when Serena says that Georgina had already left the Sotheby's auction, and she comes out in time to see the Humphrey limo (yes, the Humphrey limo) jet off and ditch her. When she has something to do besides whine, Serena gets back into my good graces. I'm even kind of cheering on her relationship with Carter. But tell me: must he always dress like American Psycho's Patrick Bateman?
  • Bree, no longer boring?: The final twist is that Carter has done something to wrong Bree's family. You know Bree: Joanna Garcia, who's been largely wasted in her guest role as Nate's girltoy. Maybe this family drama will give her a juicy storyline on the show, finally. OK, it didn't sound that juicy, but the rest of the episode was so exciting, it spilled over to this final moment!

So what did you think of The Lost Boy? How do you think the Scott secret will come out? Frankly, I hope it's soon, because what fallout can it even have now? Dan and Serena are broken up and Rufus and Lily are together. Let's wrap it up!

I just finished watching the episode and have a HUGE smile on my face. Finally! A satisfying episode of GG. The Chuck/Blair sweetness is almost too much to handle, I love it! But I was equally thrilled to see them facing off against each other again over that photo. "She stole my shoes" had me laughing out loud. The chemistry with them is fantastic.

Loved it ! Chuck and Blair are seriously so good for each other. Love what the writers have done :) .. I'm soooo sick of seeing Nate..I mean yeah the dude is hot, but wow his Chace's character doesn't have substance. Carter and Serena are great too.. she seems happier, which is always good for Serena, lol. Anyway, obviously looking forward to next week.. I heart GG

Oh and I know it's hours after my first comment but may I add: I knew that hand written invitation was fake from the beginning.

What is UP with Serena's hair? Looks like a rats nest. Speaking of hair, I don't like that double braid up do they did on Blair either. Very unflattering, it makes her face look too round. She looks best with her hair down. I agree they are totally wasting Joanna Garcia. I can't believe she went from playing the adorable and charming Megan on "Privileged" to play Bree...totally boring and vanilla. I love Carter's character on the show. He is kind of like another form of Chuck. I hope he becomes a regular.

I'm so glad that they were able to scoop up Sebastian Stan when Kings was canceled. Now if only someone can give Chris Egan a part!

Yeah, I'm happy with the absence of Jenny and Nate. Often I forget Nate is part of this show. He has no scene with other characters anymore LOL And I really like Carter and Serena, even though I hate Serena. But she did good when she told Dan that lie. LOL She schemes like anyone else, but often comes as a good girl, opposed to Blair.

Oh and I like Serena and Carter together, they're not boring like Serena's usual relationships (ahem Dan).

Loved this episode! Classic GG. Chuck and Blair had some great one-liners as usual, and Serena was actually smart and likable for once. I'm glad Jenny was out of the episode again, she annoys me to no end. Can't wait to see what other evil plans Georgina has up her sleeve.

I love the old format. And I love Chuck and Blair in this episode "She stole my shoes" Georgina with the Dan picture on her desktop- poor girl, that's scary desperate. I'm liking that the show is light on Jenny and Nate. They didn't do anything anyway. I wouldn't mind them on the show if they fit in with the rest of the storylines. Final thought: Serena's hair is killing me, I liked Jenny's dress and Blair's whole outfit at the end of the episode.

I feel sleazy, but I like Carter, he has the whole innocent badyboy thing down. I love the scheming on this show, best thing besides the clothes...Georgina and Chuck and Blair kept me entertained. And Buzz, isn't it amazing how no matter how whiny and annoying Serena gets we all forget and love her again when she is smart Serena...the blessings of being a golden girl I guess.

Ugh, I don't like Georgina. How can Dan honestly be back in her good graces after all the drama last season? Typical man!! :) Anyhoo, I know Lily was pregnant in real life, but they managed to shoot around that before, I don't know where she is now....

Yeah where is Lilly anyway? I didn't pay attention to that little detail last episode. I felt sad for Georgina when I saw she and Dan's photo on her computer. Awww.

Agree, love the format. I rewound to hear V & S say the line about "I hope it was ____, not ____" at the same time. I thought it was hilarious! The best part of the show EVERY week is Chuck and Blair (of course), I loved when she gave him the photo...and I loved the end when he says he can buy the hotel b/c B believes in him (awww!) Those were my favorite parts, but it was a good episode. I'm ready for Lily to come back...and can't wait to see what G will do in Boston. I DON'T like S with Carter though!!
