Riverdale [2] is gearing up for its fourth season, and it's a bittersweet time for the cast. Following Luke Perry's death [3] in March, the show will finally address his character Fred's death in the upcoming premiere episode. As the cast sat down for the first table read, they took a moment to remember their beloved costar. "There was nothing but love, memories and mourning for our beloved Luke as we honor him in our first episode back ❤️," Mädchen Amick (Alice Cooper) captioned a group photo with the hashtags #wemissyouluke and #inmemoriam.
Perry — who died at the age of 52 in March after suffering a massive stroke — made his last appearance as Archie's dad [4] in April. While the remaining episodes of season three were dedicated in his honor [5], the show decided to wait to address his character's absence. In June, the show's creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa took to Twitter to share a photo of the script for the season four premiere, which is titled "In Memoriam." [6] "Probably the most important episode of #Riverdale [7] we'll do this year, if not ever," he wrote. "A tribute to our fallen friend. Thankful for this opportunity to honor Luke & Fred."
