Here's a Status Update on Your Favorite Riverdale Couples Because, Yes, We're That Invested

No matter how crazy things get, the teenage couples on Riverdale seem to always stick together. They've each been through the wringer, and if the season three premiere is any indication of what's to come, more turmoil awaits them. But not every couple is expected to face some serious obstacles. Some of them will actually develop a stronger bond this season. We'll eventually see where Varchie, Bughead, and other duos end up. In the meantime, read on to see where they currently stand in their relationships.

Warning: spoilers about the Riverdale season three premiere ahead.

Archie and Veronica
The CW

Archie and Veronica

Season three already starts out with a strain on Archie and Veronica's relationship. Veronica is fighting hard to keep Archie out of jail, but Archie ultimately decides to plead guilty to Cassidy Bullock's murder. That might only make things harder on their romance. For the time being, the two are just trying to get through everything together. That being said, Camila Mendes, who plays Veronica, has already confirmed that Veronica and Archie are going to hit a roadblock in their relationship, and apparently that roadblock might involve one of them being with another person.

Jughead and Betty
The CW

Jughead and Betty

Contrary to their friends, Jughead and Betty will actually see their relationship strengthen. That's apparent in the premiere of season three. They confide in each other about their problems, and when Jughead spearheads a stealth mission to save Hot Dog, the Southside Serpents' canine comrade that was kidnapped by the Ghoulies, Betty insists on going with him. Before Jughead can object, she reminds him that she's not leaving his side, saying, "The serpent queen is a warrior queen. So if you're on the front lines, so am I." These are the Bughead moments that we live for.

Cheryl and Toni
The CW

Cheryl and Toni

Summer definitely serves these two well. They're closer than ever, and according to Cheryl, they spent their vacation riding motorcycles across the country. At Cheryl's pool party, they also share a special moment when Cheryl opens up to Toni about her suicide attempt in season one. It's not something that Cheryl has spoken much about, so seeing her get that candid with Toni is a testament to how their relationship has developed.

Kevin and Moose

It looks like Kevin and Moose might finally be getting more screen time this season. We get a glimpse at what's been going on with them at Cheryl's Labor Day pool party when they're relaxing and catching some rays together. Kevin talks to Moose about wanting to take their relationship to the next level. "You know those movies where friends make a pact to lose their virginity by the end of the school year?" he says. "I've been thinking, since we've been hanging out all Summer, maybe we should make a similar pact of our own, but on a slightly accelerated time table — like by Halloween at the latest." Woof. Moose didn't really have a response to that and looked taken aback, which might be a red flag, but we'll see. Let's just appreciate the fact that they already have a scene together.
