We've long been bemoaning the lack of new, good romantic comedies, but there were quite a few good ones out in 2017. The best ones have been pretty under-the-radar (the best kind [1], TBH). For now, take a look at these 11 films with seriously sweet potential. (And if you missed any of 2016's romantic comedies [2], now is the time to watch them from home!)
Literally, Right Before Aaron
- Who's starring: Cobie Smulders, Justin Long [7], Ryan Hansen
- What it's about: Adam (Long) deals with his ex (Smulders) moving on very quickly after their relationship — very quickly: she gets engaged and invites him to the wedding.

Home Again
- Who's starring: Reese Witherspoon [9]
- What it's about: Nancy Meyers' daughter, Hallie Meyers-Shyer, wrote and directed this romantic comedy about a recent divorcee (Witherspoon) who has to come home again, and finds herself surrounded by a few good men.

How to Talk to Girls at Parties
- Who's starring: Elle Fanning, Alex Sharp, and Nicole Kidman [11]
- What it's about: Set in the suburbs of London in the '70s, How to Talk to Girls at Parties is based on Neil Gaiman's short story of the same name. It's a love story between a teenage boy and a beautiful girl who happens to be an alien, so it's covering a lot of genres.

Girlfriend's Day
- Who's starring: Bob Odenkirk, Amber Tamblyn, and Natasha Lyonne
- What it's about: A retired greeting card writer's (Odenkirk) life goes into a tailspin when a new national holiday is invented.
- When it came out: Feb. 14
Everybody Loves Somebody
- Who's starring: Karla Souza, José María Yazpik, and Ben O'Toole
- What it's about: Souza (whom you recognize from How to Get Away With Murder) plays a gynecologist who considers giving her ex a chance when he shows up to a family wedding . . . even though she's kind of, sort of into a co-worker, too.
- When it came out: Feb. 17

- Who's starring: Anna Kendrick [12], Lisa Kudrow, and Craig Robinson
- What it's about: Eloise (Kendrick) decides to attend a wedding, despite being very recently dumped by the best man. Now seated at the singles table, she bonds with her fellow odd-men-out.
- When it came out: March 3
The Lovers
- Who's starring: Debra Winger and Tracy Letts
- What it's about: A long-married husband and wife both find themselves caught up in secret affairs, but when each get close to ending their marriage, they find themselves more drawn to each other than ever.
- When it came out: May 5
The Wedding Plan
- Who's starring: Noa Koler and Erez Drigues
- What it's about: This Israeli rom-com centers on an engaged woman (Koler) who finds out that her fiancé doesn't love her. They break up, but she refuses to cancel her wedding, sure that she'll find someone to marry by the time the big day comes.
- When it came out: May 12
Paris Can Wait
- Who's starring: Alec Baldwin [13], Diane Lane [14], and Arnaud Viard
- What it's about: A woman (Lane) agrees to go on a road trip with her workaholic husband's (Baldwin) business associate (Viard). What is supposed to be a simple trip turns into much more.
- When it came out: May 12
The Incredible Jessica James
- Who's starring: Jessica Williams, Chris O'Dowd
- What it's about: Williams is effervescent in this indie romantic comedy about a young woman who's struggling in the aftermath of a breakup and in her aspirations as a playwright when she meets a guy who seems all wrong for her (Chris O'Dowd).
- When it came out: July 28
