The scariest movie I remember from my childhood was from Fire Prevention Week in school when I was about 7 years old. In the film, one of the parents dropped a cigarette ash into a couch cushion, and it smoldered until it burst into flames late that night. The whole family perished from smoke inhalation. Only the dog escaped because it could leave through the dog door. When the dramatic enactment part of them film ended, they explained how the family could have gotten out alive, but I was terrified. My parents both smoked at the time. I had nightmares, and used to go check the couch cushions late at night after everyone was in bed! To this day, I think, "What a horrible thing to show little kids!"

Beetlejuice scared me too! (It still scares me!) I loved 101 Dalmatians, but Cruella scared the crap out of me as a kid. I had the courage to stand up to Maleficient (in fact, I used to run around as a dragon. I thought she was cool. Sorry, everyone, that one is my number one favorite Disney Princess movie. I love everything about it.), the Evil Queen, Scar (who was positively scary to my brother and my mom), the bad guy in The Hunchback of Notre Dame, and every other baddy, but Cruella de Vil scared the crap out of me. There's something about her wanting to peel off the coats off those puppies that I found positively scary. I twitch about it to this day. The real life action version made me twitch even more! Every time I watch that movie, I actually have to find my dog and pet her coat just to make sure it's attached! She spooks me!

I remember going into the Haunted House at DisneyLand and my little brother burst into tears. I just kept my eyes closed. The movies that scared me were kid's movies. Sometimes watching them now I remember how freaked I used to be! Although one that stands out was Who Framed Roger Rabbit? The end where the steamroller is squishing him and he's all freaky? Yeah that bothered me for a long time!
