6 Reasons You Should Binge Watch Schitt's Creek — Like, Right Now

Rarely does an ensemble cast shine quite like they do in Schitt's Creek. While normally a breakout star would appear, distinguishing themselves as the one carrying all the weight, everyone in this comedy excels. With big names like comedy legends Catherine O'Hara and Eugene Levy, obviously the show is going to have a standout cast, but every character has pitch-perfect comedic timing, coupled with a true understanding of how their character should develop.

In no small feat, the Rose family acts like, well, an actual family. They give each other grief (frequently, and to great effect), get annoyed by each other, but also not-so-secretly love each other. One of my favorite elements is how brother and sister David (Dan Levy) and Alexis (Annie Murphy) have similar gestures and tics, like the way the both look up when they say, "um," or how to use their hands to accentuate a point, just like real siblings would.

Obviously a formerly wealthy family would have some clothing to drool over, but every member of the Rose family's style is on point. From the sharp suits of patriarch Johnny (Eugene Levy) and architectural couture of Moira (Catherine O'Hara) and David, to the Pinterest-worthy boho dresses of Alexis, each character serves some serious looks. Sure, there's maybe one too many harem pants for my taste, but that just makes their lavish style all the more ridiculous propped up against the rural town of Schitt's Creek.

Look, I'm not one to normally swoon over a cast, but Schitt's Creek has got a seriously good looking people. The Rose family is clearly made up of beautiful people (I mean, have you seen Dan Levy and Annie Murphy?), but the whole town is filled with enough eye candy to keep you hooked. If my vet looked like Ted (Dustin Milligan), I'd go broke taking my dog in for checkups.

It would have been so easy for the show to rely on tired fish-out-of-water tropes, where the characters become exaggerated caricatures each season. Plenty of lesser shows do it, after all. Here, however, every character has become a better, more dynamic version of themselves by season four. It's fun watching characters get better in a very natural way, and you can't help but want to root for them.

There are so many relationship goals in this show, I don't even know where to begin — at least not without risking some major spoiler moments. Parents Moira and Johnny are clearly still head-over-heels in love with each other, much to the embarrassment of their children. But nothing fills my cold heart with joy quite like the romance between David and Patrick (Noah Reid), which manages to feel revolutionary in that their sexuality is not the most interesting or talked about aspect of their relationship.
