Disney's Secretariat is let out of the gate today, and it promises an "impossible true story" about the horse that won the US Triple Crown champion and his strong owner, Penny Chenery (played by Diane Lane). The trailer certainly has that feeling of an epic, emotional journey, and it might very well fit into the pantheon of inspiring sports movies.
But is the family-friendly movie enough to move you from home and into the theater? The cast looks great, with Lane, John Malkovich, and True Blood's Nelsan Ellis (check them out in full '70s garb here), but a movie where the horse is the main character isn't all that appealing to me. But I did enjoy Seabiscuit, so I wouldn't rule this one out completely. What do you think — will you watch, pass, or rent Secretariat?
