Clearly Amy Adams has never heard the quote "you can't go home again" before, because that's exactly what her character attempts to do in the mysterious first trailer for Sharp Objects. Adams stars in HBO's adaptation of the Gillian Flynn novel [1], which follows Camille Preaker, an emotionally unstable journalist who is sent to cover a string of murders in her hometown. Naturally, the journey unearths more than Camille bargains for, both physically and psychologically, especially when her estranged mother gets involved.

Although we still don't know how closely the eight-episode miniseries follows the book, the trailer looks pretty promising. The series also stars Patricia Clarkson, Chris Messina, and It's Sophia Lillis and premieres on July 8.
