18 Netflix Shows You Can Binge in 1 Weekend (We Promise)

Much like accepting a marriage proposal, there's a lot to consider when it comes to choosing a new show to commit to: will it make you happy? Will it satisfy you? Will it suck you in only to destroy you seven years later? (OK, maybe that only applies to Gilmore Girls.) If that sounds like too much pressure, you might want to think about having a quick fling instead. Like Tinder, Netflix has a ton of options that can keep you entertained for one weekend and one weekend only. From Lovesick to The End of the F***ing World, we've rounded up all the shows that were practically made to be binged.

Crashing

Crashing

If you replace the cast of Friends with six British 20-somethings and trade Central Perk for an unused hospital, you get something along the lines of Crashing (which has nothing to do with the HBO show of the same name, FYI). Written by and starring Fleabag's Phoebe Waller-Bridge, it follows a group of friends who decide to shack up in an empty hospital in exchange for cheap rent, even though it comes with a strict set of rules.

End of the F***ing World

End of the F***ing World

End of the F***ing World is just as funny as it is disturbingly dark. Fortunately, it won't take you long to blaze through the adventures of 17-year-old James and Alyssa, who go on the run after stealing a car and maybe-possibly-accidentally murdering someone.

Binge Time: Two and a half hours

03
Nailed It
Netflix

Nailed It

Netflix has gradually been getting into the food game with shows like Chef's Table and Ugly Delicious, but Nailed It just might be my favorite addition. The genuinely hilarious half-hour baking competition recruits amateur bakers and challenges them to make desserts far beyond their skill level (the disastrous results will make you laugh out loud, truly). Oh, and Nicole Byer might be the best reality show host of all time.

Episodes: Six

Binge Time: Three and a half hours

Watch Nailed It on Netflix now.

04
Collateral
Everett Collection

Collateral

In the mood for a dark British detective series with serious star power? Enter Collateral. The four-episode season stars Oscar nominee Carey Mulligan as a pregnant detective trying to solve the murder of a pizza delivery man, which ends up having so many layers and shooting off in so many unexpected directions that you won't be able to tear your eyes away for even one second.

05
Alias Grace
Everett Collection

Alias Grace

Alias Grace is the second major TV project based on a Margaret Atwood novel, and it's just as chilling as The Handmaid's Tale. When Irish immigrant Grace Marks (Sarah Gadon) is accused of murdering her boss his housekeeper in 1800s Canada, a twisted mystery unfolds — did she really kill them or has she been framed?

06
Dear White People
Everett Collection

Dear White People

Dear White People is one of those shows where, after watching, you'll wonder why it took you so long to get on board. The dramedy was originally written by Justin Simien as straight-up satire, but is now crushingly relevant — a college radio host and activist finds herself on the frontlines of a racist incident at her university.

Episodes: 10

Binge Time: Four hours

Watch Dear White People on Netflix now.

07
Netflix Presents: The Characters
Everett Collection

Netflix Presents: The Characters

In the weeks leading up to the premiere of The Characters, Netflix touted the sketch series as "outlaw comedy," giving eight rising stars in the comedy world 30 minutes to do whatever they wanted. Starring comedians like John T. Reynolds, Kate Berlant, John Early, and Natasha Rothwell, every half-hour episode is entertaining in its own way (especially Rothwell's, whose riff on Game of Thrones spoilers and a spot-on rap about basic b*tches makes it an easy favorite).

Binge Time: Four and a half hours

08
Chewing Gum
Everett Collection

Chewing Gum

Chewing Gum is delightful in a wacky sort of way, following Tracy (Michaela Coel), a 24-year-old virgin trying to navigate her love life while hiding it from her extremely strict and religious mother and older sister. If that doesn't hook you, Tracy is obsessed with Beyoncé, which should be reason enough to watch both seasons.

Episodes: 12 (six episodes in both season one and two)

Binge Time: About five hours

09
On My Block
Everett Collection

On My Block

On My Block is the latest coming-of-age comedy to hit Netflix, but don't misunderstand — this is not yet another attempt to re-create the magic of shows like Freaks and Geeks or Dawson's Creek. The young cast is incredibly talented and diverse, which makes the first season such a joy to watch. The series follows four lifelong friends as they navigate the ups and downs of both freshman year of high school and life in general in a rough neighborhood of South Central LA.

Episodes: 10

Binge Time: Five hours

Watch On My Block on Netflix now.

10
Wanderlust
Everett Collection

Wanderlust

Toni Collette stars as a therapist trying to revive her fading sex life with her husband (Steven Mackintosh), a teacher, after she gets into a traumatic accident. Their inability to spice things up themselves leads the couple to invite other people into their marriage, resulting in a funny, emotional journey of sexual discovery for both of them.

11
Bodyguard
Netflix

Bodyguard

This British thriller was a huge hit in the UK, and it's not hard to see why. Stars Richard Madden and Keeley Hawes have intense chemistry as a highly-trained bodyguard and his charge, a politician, and it's a rollercoaster ride of action.

3%

If you're still in need of a TV show to replace Lost, look no further. This Brazilian dystopian thriller imagines a crime-ridden world where three percent of the world's most elite individuals live in a remote island paradise called the Offshore, while the rest of society is left to fight it out in the poverty of the Inland. In a Hunger Games-esque twist, every citizen goes through a grueling set of tests when they turn 20, which decide whether or not they'll be allowed to join the Offshore.

A Series of Unfortunate Events

14
The Office
Everett Collection

The Office

If you're a loyal fan of Michael Scott and the rest of Dunder Mifflin's lovable crew of oddballs but you've never given its original iteration a try, there's no time like the present. The British series consists of only two short seasons, so you can easily finish it in one go, but we guarantee you'll be quoting hilarious lines from Ricky Gervais and Martin Freeman for weeks afterward.

Episodes: 14 (six in season one, eight in season two)

Binge Time: Seven hours

Watch The Office on Netflix now.

15
The OA
Everett Collection

The OA

Netflix's latest sci-fi series follows a once-blind young woman named Prairie who reappears in her hometown after a seven-year-long abduction having regained her sight. Not only that, but she's also armed with a nearly unbelievable tale of why and how she was brutally imprisoned, which she tells piece by piece to five new friends: four very different teenagers who live in her neighborhood and one very desperate teacher (the incredible Phyllis Smith) from their high school. You might as well watch it before season two premieres, right?

Episodes: Eight

Binge Time: Seven and a half hours

16
The People v. O.J. Simpson
Everett Collection

The People v. O.J. Simpson

The People v. O.J. Simpson has racked up awards left and right, and it's no surprise why. The riveting retelling of O.J. Simpson's infamous "trial of the century" switches from the perspectives of both the persecution and the defense, leaving room for star performances from Sterling K. Brown, Sarah Paulson, and Courtney B. Vance.

17
Lovesick
Everett Collection

Lovesick

A British 20-something named Dylan discovers he has an STD and must notify all the women he's ever slept with in this brilliant, genuinely funny romantic comedy. Each half-hour episode onward focuses on Dylan's attempts to reach out to one of his past paramours in the present day as he makes his way down the list, giving us flashbacks to what their courtship was like (and more often than not, why it was a failure).

Episodes: 14 (six in the first season, eight in the second, eight in the third)

Binge Time: Nine hours

Watch Lovesick on Netflix now.

18
Glitch
Everett Collection

Glitch

In recent years, shows about people mysteriously and miraculously returning from the dead have been popping up left and right. Let us assure you that Glitch is the first one worth watching since the original French version of The Returned (Les Revenants). The Australian sci-fi drama's two short seasons follow a group of six strangers who pull themselves from their graves one night — naked, gasping, and in perfect health. Struggling to piece together what brought these people back will have you on the edge of your seat, and the final few twists go right for the jugular.

Episodes: 12 (six episodes in both season one and two)

Binge Time: 11 hours
