15 Elite Series That Rival the High-Society Drama of Gossip Girl

Just like Gossip Girl, which is based on the YA book series by Cecily von Ziegesar, this CW series is far removed from its original source material and deliciously dark. Riverdale follows the lives, romances, and deceptions of Archie, Betty, Veronica, and Jughead from the Archie Comics, enticing its viewers with unrealistically beautiful teens, incredible clothes, and major doses of drama.

This reboot of the primetime '80s soap of the same name revolves around two rival families in Atlanta, the Carringtons and the Colbys, and the tension between heiress Fallon Carrington and her billionaire father's new wife, Cristal Flores, whom she doesn't trust. If you love the blue blood battles of Gossip Girl, you'll love this CW series just as much.

The CW reboot of the original Aaron Spelling-created series, Beverly Hills, 90210 — which ran for 10 seasons in the '90s — still revolves around the relationships and alliances between a tight-knit group of privileged teens attending West Beverly Hills High School, though the remake offers an edgier twist. The lives and wardrobes of West Coast teens and East Coast teens may be totally different, but you'll find that the drama is still pretty much the same.

Rather than being stalked by a mysterious gossip blogger who wants to spill their secrets and exploit their lives, the teens on Pretty Little Liars have a stalker with far more malicious intentions. With even more convoluted conspiracies and dramatic reveals than Gossip Girl, PLL and its well-dressed, unfairly hot cast will make any Upper East Side fan feel at home.

This Netflix original series from South Africa revolves around Puleng, a crafty 16-year-old on a mission to find her older sister who was abducted at birth. After following a lead that points her to an elite college, Puleng transfers to the academy in order to investigate whether or not the school's swimming star is actually her sister. While the coastal wealth of Cape Town is very different from the world of Manhattan, Parkhurst College will still give you major Constance Billard vibes.

If you loved the tension between the haves and the have-nots on Gossip Girl, then you'll love Outer Banks. Set on the Outer Banks of North Carolina, the Netflix drama revolves around John B and his loyal crew of Pogues as they clash with the wealthy Kooks from the other side of the marsh. And while John B couldn't be more different from Dan Humphrey, his romance with Sarah will definitely remind you of Dan's relationship with Serena.

Bridgerton has a penchant for petty drama, high fashion, and lots of steamy scenes, making it the perfect binge for Gossip Girl fans. Also, just try to tell us the duke doesn't remind you of Chuck Bass.

This Riverdale spinoff follows aspiring fashion designer Katy Keene as she navigates life in Manhattan alongside new friends and enemies alike. Unlike Riverdale, the series is focused less on murder and cults and more on fashion and romance. The dynamic between Katy and her on-and-off-again boyfriend KO is sure to remind you of the tumultuous dynamic between Blair and Nate.

Similar to Katy Keene, this series also revolves around glamorous 20-somethings working in the Manhattan fashion industry as employees at Scarlet, a Cosmopolitan-esque publication. While the friendship between Jane, Kat, and Sutton is far less fraught than the friendship between Blair and Serena, there's still plenty of drama to dive into. You may also recognize Sutton from Gossip Girl, as actress Meghann Fahy played the small part of Devyn on the series.
