What Do You Think About the Best Picture?

I loved this movie, and I think it will go down in time as one of my favorites, but I have to say I don't know that it will withstand the test of time. I kinda think this is rather like a Shakespeare In Love kind of win... the feel-good movie wins over the truly classic movie.

I'm so happy- I literally woke up instantly after Sean Penn's speech to see if it won. And i'm still celebrating. :)

So fantastic! I loved seeing the Slumdog crew last night. You could see they were having a great time - laughing and not taking themselves too seriously. It's obvious that they are so proud of their movie. I think that after last night anyone who hasn't seen the film is probably dying to see it now!

I've said this before and I'll say it again. This movie is NOT a masterpiece but it was leaps and bounds better than ALL of the other nominated films or the films that were once being considered for nominations (like TDK and The Wrestler). All in all, it wasn't a great year for cinema and as a result Slumdog was able to shine and rightly so. I still maintain that it is an excellent film and I'm glad it's getting recognition.

@ ashopaholic : I'm right there with you. I think this movie is way overrated. I agree that Danny Boyle did an incredible job and he deserves taking the oscar for best direction, but best picture should have gone to another film.

Yayness, Yayness, YAYNESS!! I'm a shameless Slumdog Groupie. For some reason I really wanted Freida to wear a sari. It would've looked stunning with her slim structure and the curves. *sigh*

I really enjoyed the movie but I wasn't really "wowed" by it and now I'm beginning to feel it is a tad overrated. But l agree with genvessel that it is great for an independent movie to win!

Very predictable win considering all the accolades and hype this movie has received over the past month or so.

It was between this and Milk, and the latter was acknowledged by Sean Penn's win, so I'm really happy!
