Song of the Day: The Coral, "Who's Gonna Find Me"

If you like the irreverent Brit-pop of early Beatles, the Charlatans UK, or the Kinks, then you should plunge headfirst into the music of The Coral. The British band — originally from Hoylake, England — got a ton of buzz back when everyone was going nuts over the Strokes, and the first two Coral albums — a self-titled CD in 2002 and Magic and Medicine in 2003 — remain awesome.

The Coral is still churning out catchy and caustic tunes, including "Who's Gonna Find Me," which the band recently posted on its MySpace page. It's the first single off The Coral's next album, Roots and Echoes, which comes out on Aug. 6. Here, the band mixes its mod flavor with some sweet vocal harmonies reminiscent of 1970s power ballads. I'm not really convinced, I find the song a bit too mellow/slow. Their name rings a bell though..

I was in the UK during the Glastonury Festival in the summer of 2003. I heard of this group when they were playing there. I thought they were pretty good then. And this is the first I've heard from them since then!

Really back in the day, got the Beatles sound indeed. Can't tell the difference if its music from this era or an old song from way back in the day. It's just okay..nothing i would jump at.
