Song of the Day: Grizzly Bear, "Graceland"

Grizzly Bear's second album Yellow House is a beautifully textured, trippy, and mellow piece of folk. On this cover of Paul Simon's "Graceland," they apply the same formula to an entirely different sort of folk music for a sound that's at once warm and chilling and very novel. LOVE THEM!!!!!!!!!!! I haven't heard a more gifted, innovative and talented band since Radiohead. Not surprising that they opened for Radiohead last year, then! I'm so sad that their August show in London is sold out.

I am very open to covers and do not subscribe to the opinion that the original is always the ultimate version. I think that wonderful songs are sometimes given fresh life by another artist. Having said that, i think that this version is very, very bad.
