It's been almost two years since Star Wars: The Force Awakens [1] hit theaters, and the cultural phenomenon continues with this Winter's release of The last Jedi. We've attempted to recover from all the first movie's huge revelations [2], followed the cast's fun on Instagram [3], and, of course, obsessed over who Rey's parents are [4]. But, well, now that Halloween [5] is fast approaching, it's time to take your Star Wars passion to a whole new level. Here's who to be on Halloween.
Poe Dameron
- What to wear: Dress in orange pants and an orange long-sleeved shirt (honestly, a prison jumpsuit might work). Accessorize with a vest and various additional belts and holsters.
- How to act: Like the charming, resilient badass who always saves the day.
Captain Phasma
- What to wear: It's not hard to find classic Stormtrooper gear in stores or around the internet, and you could always make your own with plastic and a bit of craftiness. The best way to make it legit, though, is to add that metallic color and the magnificent cape.
- How to act: You're all business, and you came here to kick ass and take names.
Han Solo
- What to wear: A white-collar shirt, brown jacket, brown pants, and a gun holster.
- How to act: Like you don't have time for novices, and you're tired of dealing with all the scum in the universe.
Rey
- What to wear: Off-white capris and a tank top. Get a long piece of mesh-like fabric to create that criss-cross tunic look, and hold it in place with a leather gun holster. Wrap your arms in more of the same material. Add the staff for extra authenticity.
- How to act: Rey is plucky, resourceful, and determined to make something of herself. Slip into a silky British accent for extra effect.
Kylo Ren
- What to wear: A full black cloak with a long black cape and black gloves. You can make the mask yourself or try to find it somewhere in stores. The red, split lightsaber is also a must.
- How to act: Purely evil and powerful.
Leia Organa
- What to wear: As a general in the Resistance, Leia has a more stately and official look. Get a light green jumpsuit (or pants and a rolled-up shirt will do), add a belt and a long, eggplant-colored vest. Add the sensible, practical updo.
- How to act: You're running the show, and you'll do whatever it takes to win.
C-3PO
- What to wear: You can make the armor yourself or try to find a C-3PO outfit. What's important to note about this iteration is the red arm!
- How to act: You're a robot, so walk around with jerky, mechanical motions. When it comes to speaking, use a tinny British accent and be as polite as possible.
A Stormtrooper
- What to wear: Wear a black bodysuit underneath, then make or find your own white armor to layer on top. The devil is in the details, here: you might have to do some work to get that helmet right, but it'll be worth it.
- How to act: There's no limit to the evil you'll do. Apprehend nearby civilians, shoot at whoever tries to stop you. And make sure you miss a lot, since Stormtroopers are notoriously bad at aim.
BB-8
- What to wear: Think outside the box with this one. Maybe design your own little helmet that resembles BB-8's head, and use clothes to mimic the colors on his body. Or you could design some weird giant orb for you to wear around your waist. We believe in you.
- How to act: Just, like, try your best to express all your emotions through beeps.
Chewbacca
- What to wear: Just long hair, all over your body. You can probably find Chewbacca suits out there in the world, but wouldn't it be SO fun to make your own?! Don't forget the armor-like accessories Chewie wears across the chest.
- How to act: You'll have to spend the whole day speaking Wookie. It'll be great.
