Tell Me How You Feel about "Tell Me You Love Me"

Tell Me How You Feel about "Tell Me You Love Me"

HBO's "Tell Me You Love Me" premiered last Sunday, but the ratings didn't live up to the hype — much of which focused on the "is it or isn't it real?" debate about the sex in the show. I'm surprised so few people tuned in, because when I finally watched "Tell Me," I found that it had a lot more going on than graphic bedroom antics (though those were certainly present). The show is a gritty, bleak look at intimacy and love, and at times it's almost hard to watch. It does have its graphic elements, but it's also surprisingly sensitive and realistic, and I'm planning to stick with it through the rest of the season.

I have a few clips from upcoming episodes to share — one for each of the show's three couples. Check them out below, and then tell me how you're feeling about "Tell Me" so far. Just

In this clip from Sunday's upcoming episode, Hugo and Jamie talk about fidelity and trust:

In this clip from the third episode, Palek and Carolyn share their struggles with infertility:

In this clip from the fourth episode, David and Katie talk about how sex fits (or doesn't) with their everyday lives:

I finally caught an episode tonight and I kinda liked it. My husband and I are dealing with infertility so I related to Palek and Carolyn immedaitely. Carolyn PISSES ME OFF. Her character is so off the mark and unrealistic its not funny. She doesn't chart her BBT, yet she sits on the toilet with her underwear down waiting for an OPK to show a surge? Swallow your pride and go see a specialist already! Anyone deal with infertility after a while knows that your pride takes a backseat to your wanting a child, point blank. Her husband on the other hand, is right on the money about the lack of intimacy and sex feeling like a 2nd job. Maybe it's me, but I can't stand shows were rich white characters just bytch and moan about trivial shyt. I had to beg doctors to refer me for testing and we're at the point of IVF after 8+ years. ughhhh just typing this pisses me off

It's a little too painstakingly real for me...

I watched two episodes of the show on demand and I loved it. I really like shows that take a behind-the-scenes look into relationships or people's thoughts. For me, there was much more to this show than the sex scenes.

I hate it. It's so self-indulgent, plodding and slow. I'm sick of these shows that are obsessed with the lives of well-off suburban white people with sexual quirks and anxieties. The lack of ethnic diversity is shameful. However, with writing as sluggish as this, who cares?

This show is beyond awful. I care nothing about any of these people and don't think I'll tune in again. Too bad, as I was really looking forward to it and usually love HBO shows. For goodness sake, I even watched the entire season John from Cincinatti w/ the hopes that it would get better (I LOVED Deadwood) and that Rebecca De Mornay would eventually stop yell-whining.

It's amazing that Ally Walker has the same hairstyle she had in Profiler 20 years ago. Haven't watched the show but will tune in. I'm not so much surprised at the sex as Sex in the City was very open with that topic. Looking forward to seeing the character development and plot.

I love this show! The characters are well developed and they are not afraid to show what real sex can look like. A+

i was really excited for this show, it looked interesting and hbo had been hawking it for so long i was looking forward to watching, but i thought the premiere was a little drawn out and kind of boring. i think it still has potential and i'll give it another shot, but if the pace doesn't pick up a little i'm tuning out. i'd have to say it was just ok, and i'll see if the season makes it any better for me.

I just got done watching. I like the show but the show is so personal that I felt like I was spying on them. The show is so real and I can definitely relate to Hugo and Jamie's situation. I will defintely keep watching. I will say those sex scenes are intense though. I was sooooooooo not expecting to see someone's balls.

I really actually liked the idea of it - and I think the first show is hard to tell if it will or won't go somewhere or if it will figure itself out. I love love loved the actors in this, and I am happy to see something that at least has the potential of substance in their roles. The beginning of things is always a little simple to set everything up. So, I guess I'd say we'll see. It definitely has potential...
