Trailer for Richard Curtis's Pirate Radio Starring Philip Seymour Hoffman, Billy Nighy, and Rhys Ifans

Movie Preview: Philip Seymour Hoffman in Pirate Radio

I'm an unabashed Richard Curtis lover — he's the writer and director of Love, Actually, one of my favorite movies, and his next one, Pirate Radio is out next month.

The movie stars Philip Seymour Hoffman as a 1960s deejay in Britain who takes to the water when the government bans rock and roll. I'm all for a retro Hoffman (he's totally channeling his rock critic character in Almost Famous here) but I'm just as excited about the British support: frequent Curtis stars Bill Nighy and Rhys Ifans, as well as Simon Pegg's right-hand man Nick Frost. Keep an eye out for Mad Men's January Jones, who gets to embrace the '60s hippie side of things.

After checking out this clip of “Pirate Radio” I’m definitely going to see it. It looks like it’s going to be funny and I know the music is great. This is going to be something to see especially with all the rock hits I love. I even found out that the movie has its own online radio station on that I could listen to on my blackberry. Its sooo cool. Listening to it makes me so anxious to see the movie … I can’t wait!

I read that the American distributor changed the name and edited the length of the movie. I don't understand the name thing, but the length makes sense. My one complaint about the original film is that it was simply too long!

Random name change, "The Boat That Rocked" was better. Rhys Darby is there too! It's awesome. The soundtrack is great.

Yup. It's "The Boat that Rocked." It's a fun movie. Honestly, I wasn't too into the ending and I think it gets a bit long at the times, but it's a really fun movie with an amazing soundtrack!

wow ive seen this movie already and it's amazing but it definitely does NOT revolve around robert seymour hoffman's character. its more about ALL the DJs than just him. they definitely changed the trailer for the american release!

I am looking forward to this! I love anything 60's 70's rock and roll hippie culture, not to mention Almost Famous is one of my favorite movies and I love Phillip in it.
