United Artists Strikes a Deal with the WGA

Click to Read

United Artists, the movie production studio co-owned by Tom Cruise, has reached an interim deal with the Writers Guild of America. The deal will allow WGA writers to go back to work for the studio. It's similar to the deal that brought David Letterman and Craig Ferguson back on the air last week, and it's the first deal of its kind for a movie studio during the strike.

These interim agreements are interesting in that they seem to signal that the guild's demands aren't unreasonable. Perhaps the WGA plans to use that as leverage for getting back to the table and bringing an end to the strike.
