Video: Betty White Brings the Ladies (and the Funny) to SNL

Betty White, you are a gem. I wasn't quite sure if your Saturday Night Live gig could live up to its hype, but boy did it, and then some. Not only was the show funny, it gave the late-night program its best ratings in 18 months!

With a little help from past SNL stars like Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, and Maya Rudolph, White was adorable, sweet, and a little dirty-minded — just how we love her. Fey and the rest of the alums brought back impressions like Sally O'Malley, the NPR Delicious Dish hosts, and Whitney Houston, and it reminded me of how good SNL can be. Yes, there were a ton of references to White's age — we get it, she's 88 and a half — but so many skits had me laughing. Which was your favorite? Personally, I can't choose, so check out these three (along with a very special unaired Debbie Downer!) when you

Betty White is always in one word: awesome. I love the contrast of her sweet appearance and dirty humor. Her sense of comedic timing is still insanely sharp. The NPR "Muffin" skit was one of my favorites of the night; it was repetitive in pushing the joke but I still had a great laugh. The other moments I liked were the Digital Short with the Heavy Metal take on the Golden Girls theme; the 3rd MacGruber skit with the proposal; last but least, Betty's monologue.

I thought it was better than usual. I thought the McGruber sketches were funnier than NPR - during that one, I couldn't help wondering if they'd have someone like Jack Nicholson do a sketch like that, trying to talk up his shriveled, erratic man parts. :oy:

Betty White was funny, but SNL just isn't funny to me at all any more. I watched White's monologue and tried to watch the skits, but they just had me rolling my eyes.
