7 Iconic Walking Dead Moments You Can Experience in Universal's New Attraction

Jul 3 2016 - 2:00pm

In July, the new Walking Dead attraction at Universal Studios Hollywood [1] will finally open to the public. Highlighting some of the most infamous moments from the TV show [2], the immersive walk-through experience is definitely enough to scare the sh*t out of you . . . in the best way possible. While any old civilian can adequately enjoy this simulated apocalypse, fans of The Walking Dead [3]'s TV show are especially apt to appreciate some of the more subtle details that the space has to offer. Wondering what to look for when you go? We're pulling out all the TV moments you'll see.

The Wolves and Body Bags

Of course, the Wolves are the sinister group of individuals that infiltrate Alexandria, but the body bags are a bit of a more subtle callback. All the way back in season one, when Rick Grimes wakes up at Harrison Memorial Hospital, he encounters hundreds of these wrapped bodies outside the building. They are, presumably, some of the earliest victims of the plague that makes walkers.

Negan's Bat, Lucille, and Plenty of Other Props

If you look closely as you walk through the attraction, you can see all kinds of objects that remind you of your favorite walker-fighting crew. In addition to Lucille, see if you can't spot Michonne's katana or Daryl's crossbow.

That Infamous Set of Doors

Another callback to the very first episode of the series, you'll find these doors in the line leading up to the attraction. Except, these ones do open. And the dead really are inside.

Daryl and Beth's Burning Cabin

In season four, there's a particularly interesting episode called "Still." Focusing only on Daryl and Beth, it follows them through the woods, into an old, abandoned country club, and finally, to a dilapidated cabin. This scene from the attraction depicts that cabin after Beth and Daryl agree to burn it down. Not only is there a charred walker fumbling around inside, but you can smell the burning wood.

The West Georgia Correctional Facility

On the TV show, this prison plays a huge role. For a while, it's a place of sanctuary for Rick and the rest of the gang. After an attack by the Governor, though, it becomes a new, fresh hell. The Universal Studios attraction brings participants into the prison during a deadly walker invasion. Amid the utter chaos, people fend off walkers, and one guy — who's a dead ringer for Herschel — helps you escape.

The Bicycle Girl

On the show, there's a handful of walkers who seem to be a bit more recognizable than the others. One such example is "Bicycle Girl," whom Rick encounters shortly after leaving the hospital in the series premiere. This walker appears in exactly the same way at Universal Studios — she's missing the bottom half of her body, but that doesn't stop her from crawling along in search of flesh.

A Nod to the Saviors

The Saviors are perhaps the most sinister and formidable force on The Walking Dead [4]. Negan, of course, is their leader. While you don't physically see any Saviors throughout the attraction, you might realize the voice guiding you along through the walkie-talkies belongs to a member of their gang.
