Weekend Box Office Results, Wolverine

Box Office: Wolverine Slashes the Competition

Summer movie season has officially arrived, folks, and it looks like American audiences were ready for it. Hugh Jackman's X-Men Origins: Wolverine easily took the No. 1 spot over the weekend and grossed an estimated $87 million. This is good news for X-Men fans because the success of Wolverine is a "key victory for Fox, Marvel Entertainment and star Hugh Jackman, since it likely keeps the franchise alive." Woohoo!

Ghosts of Girlfriends Past also did solid business over the weekend and came in second place with an estimated $15.3 million. The top five was rounded out by Obsessed, 17 Again, and Monsters vs. Aliens in third, fourth, and fifth place respectively.

Were you one of the millions who saw Wolverine? Do you agree with the reviews?

I thought it was great. It makes me laugh how people don't like the story and are saying it was slow or boring because they actually stayed pretty close to the actual true Wolverine plot. But I guess you can't make everyone happy.

I liked the Wolverine movie, although I thought the parts where he gets his adamantium and where he loses his memory were too easy.

Ryan Reynolds character is just like that in the comics he is this smart mouth dude with a silly sense of humor!

I don't understand the vitriol being heaped on this fun, entertaining movie. It's got great characters, brilliantly filmed action, and most of all, Hugh Jackman! Need I say more? Maybe not, but I will. I preferred it to last year's hit, IRON MAN, which, to me, was too full of boring machine vs. machine sequences and undeservedly overly praised. People keep blasting XMO:W because it doesn't hew to the comic book line. Well, guess what? It's not a comic book; it's a movie. Its universe is its own. I would give this movie 8.5 stars. I hope they do the Japan story next.

Hmmmm.....saw this movie and I liked it. Hugh Jackman, good job, not as intense as the other X-men movies though. Liv Shriber, great job in his part. Everyone else was good, except Bryan Reynolds. Personally why cast this guy in that part...I would have cast someone else. But for a fantasy type movie...what do you expect? CGI was good not great....again for this type of movie...also the story moved too slow in spots, it needed to keep up the momentum. Other than that it was fun to see on the big screen...if you don't go in expecting perfection and just can suspend your belief, you will relax enough to enjoy it!

I did go see this movie and I have to say that I was disappointed. I expected much more than what we got. There wasn't nearly enough Gambit or Deadpool. Hugh Jackman was great but the story was just okay. For a big blockbuster movie the CGI was crappy. I heard that there was a clip at the very end after the credits but I didn't bother to stay cuz I just wanted to leave the theater asap.
