Will Your Favorite Grey's Anatomy Couple Survive the Season? Here's Our Diagnosis

Dec 4 2018 - 11:30am

Grey's Anatomy [1] has been making good on its promise about season 15 being the season of love [2], because we're getting a whole lot of romance in the air! The relationships on the show are all over the map this season. We have everything from Alex and Jo [3], the happily-in-love newlyweds, to Ben and Bailey, the beloved couple who are taking a break from their marriage. And of course, we can't ignore Meredith's fine options between two very scrumptious men, Link [4] and DeLuca [5].

This all begs the questions: Which couple will remain unscathed? Which will crumble under the weight of Grey's notorious drama? We've broken down all of the show's current couples [6] and ranked them by their likelihood of surviving season 15. If you're wondering if your favorite couple is going to make it or not, keep reading to see our comprehensive and totally scientific predictions based on the story so far.

Owen and Amelia: 25%

Don't get me wrong — I love the dynamic between Owen and Amelia as coparents [7], and their romantic life has been relatively drama-free after their divorce. Owen has told Amelia he wants to do strings attached with her and their foster kids together, but I just can't imagine everything being smooth sailing after Teddy drops her Baby Hunt news. It's written on the wall that Amelia will break off the relationship at least once to balance everything else in her life, including her sisters and soon-to-be foster daughter Betty.

Glasses and Nico: 50%

Glasses and Nico [8] are both immediately likable, reminding me a bit of Lexie and Sloan back in the day. They share a passionate makeout session in an ambulance (after Glasses rescues Nico from being blown away, of course). If both of them survive the storm, I can imagine them working out. The tension Nico feels about being the first guy Levi's kissed has been cut with the latter's proclamation about not being in a shame spiral about his sexuality. If this cute couple's going to make it, we have to see them really get to know each other beyond their sizzling chemistry.

Meredith and DeLuca: 50%

The Meredith and DeLuca ship is strong, but will it actualize into something meaningful? DeLuca is charming, easy-going, and confident, almost like a younger Derek on a motorcycle. Meredith's been having naughty dreams about him after his kiss at Jo and Alex's wedding. He's been developing feelings for her as well and has even been brave enough to let her know. Now that they're stuck in an elevator together, it seems inevitable they'll connect emotionally or physically. The only person in DeLuca's way? The equally dreamy ortho god Link [9]. We'll just have to wait and see how this triangle sorts itself out.

Ben and Bailey: 70%

Ben and Bailey have been through so much together, and they're one of the more solid couples on the show. Still, Ben's firefighting job has been agonizing our beloved chief of surgery to no end. On Station 19, the couple fight, and Bailey decides to go on a break from her marriage. Ben still drops by to board their windows during the storm, but things don't look great for them. Even if their marriage is on the rocks and both characters are simultaneously on two shows [10], I just can't imagine them getting a divorce. But I also felt the same thing about Jackson and April, so anything can happen. Maybe the windstorm will blow some direction Dr. Bailey's way.

Maggie and Jackson: 75%

Part of being a Grey's fan is being up for anything, even shipping step-siblings. While Jackson and Maggie find their footing in season 14, their relationship has been more on the rocks recently. Jackson goes MIA to find himself for a while, only after telling Maggie he loves her. When he comes back, she becomes jealous over messages on his phone from other women. Still, with Richard's recent bar fight and Catherine's diagnosis, the couple will definitely need to get it together. But if they are able to go through this, I can only imagine their relationship growing stronger [11].

Richard and Catherine: 80%

Richard and Catherine are made for each other. But they've been hiding things from one another, Catherine with her tumor and Richard with his bar fight. When Richard finally calls her back after a night in jail, Tom Koracick picks up, arousing Richard's suspicions of an affair. (Tom's her neurosurgeon, so it's not likely they're hooking up despite having a history.) I can only imagine the news on both sides cementing the strength of their relationship even if there's a momentary drift. And ABC? You better not kill off Debbie Allen.

Jo and Alex: 90%

The Karevs are as happy as can be. While the newlyweds have had their initial bumps at the beginning of the season, they now both hold prestigious jobs at Grey Sloan with Jo as a surgical innovation fellow and Alex as the interim chief. Even when Jo finds out Alex forgot to send in their marriage license, she's as calm as can be. Hopefully, these two kids remain drama-free in the season of love.
