Whitney Cummings's eponymous sitcom is one of Fall TV's new shows fighting for your DVR's attention, so before it premieres, here is my two cents on the Whitney pilot. The half-hour comedy stars Cummings as a woman living with her boyfriend Alex (Chris D'Elia), happily unmarried but still dealing with the pressure of society and loved ones to get married.
Where it works: Whitney and Alex's live-in relationship is modern and relatable, and there are a couple of bits that are really funny.
Where it doesn't: Though Cummings is the mastermind behind the show, her personality is a bit too over the top to carry the show. Indeed, she may work better behind-the-scenes: she created new series 2 Broke Girls, a pilot I loved.
You might like this show if: If you think NBC's Thursday night comedy block could use more relationship drama.
When it's on: Thursdays on NBC at 9:30 p.m.
