Who Killed Jason Blossom? Breaking Down Riverdale's Biggest Mystery

It's not Betty. She's too pure for this world, and she also seems intent on finding out what happened. Then again, she did display a crazy alter ego this season, and perhaps the fact that she's trying so desperately to uncover the truth is a ruse, because she's the real killer!

Archie was on the scene and heard a gunshot, and while that puts him in a precarious position, it gives him an alibi. He's also the star of the show; he can't be the killer.

Archie's dad seems like one of the only genuinely decent people in Riverdale. I highly doubt he has anything to do with Jason's death.

Kevin is just an innocent dude who likes cruising in the woods . . . unless there's more to him than we're seeing. He seems like the show's comic relief, but that may just be a ploy to make us not consider him as the murderer.

Jughead is the show's narrator, which would make him an odd choice to be the killer. He's the show's sleuth, the cynic. I won't rule him out entirely, but I also just don't think he's the killing type.

New in town with a mysterious background? On paper, Veronica seems like a prime suspect. In reality, though, she's a very likeable main character who never even met Jason Blossom.

Her mother, on the other hand, has history in Riverdale. She grew up there and, as she points out, went to school with many of the parents in town. She has a suspicious relationship with the local gang (including Jughead's dad) and I'm not convinced that there isn't more to their arrangement.

Cheryl is hard to pin down. The queen bee has clearly been deeply affected by her beloved brother's death, but she's already lied once about her involvement. Their relationship also strikes me as weird and, I'll say it, kind of incestuous.

Just because Ms. Grundy has left Riverdale doesn't mean she's not a suspect. The woman had been carrying on an affair with a teenager before she was caught red-handed lying about her name and credentials. Her explanation is that she's on the run from an abusive relationship, which is an airtight excuse, but the last look we get at her (wearing sexy sunglasses and eyeing up some young gentlemen) indicates that she's not that innocent.

Betty's mom is the prime suspect. She hated Jason for turning her daughter Polly into a bad girl (we're still waiting on the full story there), and as evidenced by her relationship with Betty, Alice is very controlling. So controlling, perhaps, that she killed Jason in an attempt to rescue — or avenge — Polly. I'm onto you, woman.
