Would You Get DirecTV If It Had More Exclusive Shows?

DirecTV and NBC's deal to keep Friday Night Lights on the air was seen as groundbreaking, but it might just be the start of things for the satellite TV service: A recent New York Times story stated that DirecTV wants to be more like HBO, creating more original series and helping revive or continue neglected network shows. Executives reportedly want another season of FNL, and they're also going to be airing numerous TV movies as pilots for potential series. Getting DirecTV instead of cable is a big decision (and not one that's open to all of us — say, apartment-dwellers), but tell me: If DirecTV were more like HBO, would you want to subscribe?

to be honest, i haven't had the best experiences with Direct TV in the past so i can't say that i'd want to go back to it. especially since i live in NYC - i can't really get it since i'm guessing that putting a satellite on my building isn't going to fly.

I would love DirecTV. My parents have had it for years and I miss it. Thier DVR service is so much better than Comcast and its soooooo much cheaper but I live in an apartment. Once I move somewhere where its an option I will get it ASAP.

We did make the switch to Directv for the HD Channels for my husband and conveniently FNL for me. But it is very fussy with weather and such, have not been terribly pleased with it.

I have always had Comcast, my husband always had DirectTV, so we always disagree over which is better. He has told me that Comcast is more expensive than DirectTV, which doesn't surprise me. Comcast is outrageous, but I just don't know enough about DirectTV to make the switch.

We've had Direct TV for years and love it. I'm surprised to hear some say that Comcast is cheaper. When we priced it at Christmas for my mother Comcast was more expensive. Also, Direct TV now has on-demand.

For FNL and other good shows, I'd consider it.

nope, I can always watch exclusive shows online, and you can't watch when it's raining. I'm happy with AT&T that we just switched to.

Comcast is cheaper and I looove On Demand. The only thing that DirecTv has that I want is the game lounge. When my boyfriend and I moved we decided to take a good look at what would be best for us price wise with the most features and dependability. Yep, it was Comcast.

DirecTV is just too expensive. As much as I hate Comcast (the only cable choice here), it's still cheaper.

Not sure, but I'm happy to hear about FNL. That is something I definitely can support.

It's not worth it to me if they keep showing the same series on regular TV after it's done airing on DirecTV.
