Are You Buying Fewer DVDs Than Usual?

According to the Digital Entertainment Group's midyear report, "consumer spending on home entertainment titles was down nearly 4%," which isn't really a shocker given today's economy, but it still might be a shift in spending habits for many people. Have you noticed a change in your DVD-buying habits? Is it all Netflix, all the time these days? Or do you still buy all the movies and TV series you want?

I'm doing the blockbuster rewards thing and getting 2 new movies a week. But I haven't purchased any movies in a long time-

i've never been much of a DVD buyer in the past. i've picked up a few of them, but only if i've been at Best Buy or some place like that and they've had a great sale going on.

i hardly ever buy dvd's, but a couple times a year i will go to blockbuster for the 3 or 4 for $20....can't beat the price and most of the dvd's are newer releases.

It hasn't changed and I buy a lot of DVD's but DVD's are very cheap here so it's not like they'll make me poor!

Netflix all the way now...I only buy ones that I really want to add to my collection now like say Twilight or Harry Potter. Also when I start buying the seasons of shows I like to have the whole set.

I used to buy 1 DVD a week. We got Netflix. Now I rarely buy DVD's.

I would say I buy fewer just b/c I started to realize that I don't watch mine very much. I like to watch something new, so Netflix is better than buying. I still buy TV on DVD a lot though. I'm with poissondujour though--almost all of my over 100 DVDs have been from Blockbuster's used section.

I've always gone for used copies, so it's a relatively cheap indulgence for me... though not, I suppose, if I add up everything I've ever spent on my collection.

Buying DVDs (and CDs) is my weakness- and I haven't bought any since February! I usually buy one or two (depends on the price) every month! The credit crunch is affecting me! :P
