On July 8, Ciara released her new single "Jump," alongside an electrifying music video with an impressive range of visuals, choreography, and outfits [1]. The dance track, which is her first in two years [2], brought us back to old-school, early 2000s Ciara [3] à la "Goodies" and "1, 2 Step."
Featuring hip-hop group Coast Contra, the video begins with Ciara as a cheerleader, dancing among Winston-Salem State University's famous Powerhouse squad [4]. The energy only gets better from there — the singer is seen dancing in too many scenes to count, including power lines, roofs, moving trains, and the hood of a car in 14 different looks. From a cheer uniform and various swimsuits to a Janet Jackson-inspired ensemble, Ciara truly outdid herself. On July 14, the singer shared a behind-the-scenes clip [5] from the video on Instagram, writing, "You betta Stomp and Shake baby! #JUMP."
The first single of her eighth album, "Jump" is also Ciara's first project as part of her new label deal with Republic Records and Uptown Records [7], in partnership with her own company, Beauty Marks Entertainment. While the artist hasn't officially released music in a while, a few weeks ago, she debuted a special, family-inspired song [8] with her kids, 8-year-old Future and 5-year-old Sienna, with Kellogg's Rice Krispies Treats.
