The royal family of Zamunda are back, and they're just as hilarious as ever! The latest trailer for Coming 2 America [1] dropped on Feb. 3, and it's good to see Akeem (Eddie Murphy [2]) and his trusted confidante Semmi (Arsenio Hall) again. The sequel picks up years after the iconic 1988 film [3] and sees the newly crowned King Akeem heading back to Queens after he learns that he fathered a son with another woman (Leslie Jones). Although Akeem has a daughter, Meeka (Kiki Layne), his father's dying wish is for him to seek out his long-lost son, Lavelle (Jermaine Fowler), and groom him to take the throne as his heir.
The sequel boasts a star-studded cast [4], much like the first film. Along with the actors reprising their original roles [5] like Hall, Shari Headley, James Earl Jones, John Amos, Paul Bates, and Garcelle Beauvais, Coming 2 America includes Wesley Snipes, Tracy Morgan, and Nomzamo Mbatha. Watch the teaser trailer above, and get ready to laugh with the royal crew when Coming 2 America premieres on Amazon Prime Video on March 5, 2021.
